2Pac at Coachella

Coachella is a music and arts festival which is organized by Goldenvoice and held at the Empire Polo Club in Indigo, California held in the Inland Empire’s Coachella Valley. This event brings all genres of music from hip hop, rock, indie, electronic music, as well as large sculptured art. The event has several stages/tents set-up throughout the grounds, each playing live music continuously. The main stages are: Coachella Stage, Outdoor Theatre, Gobi Tent, Mojave Tent, and the Sahara Ten. On May 31, 2011, Goldenvoice announced that the festival will be held over two separate weekends, starting in 2012. The event showcase not only up-and-coming artists but also man reunions have taken place at the event.

This year’s most talked about event was during the set featuring Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg when everything when black and then a familiar figure appeared and it was none other than 2Pac. Yeah I know you’re thinking, hold up, he’s been dead for over 15 years but this Hollywood company Digital Domain with technology invented by Dimensional Studios and the performance was realized by AC Concepts.

After Pac gave a shoutout to the crowd and shouted out Dre and Snoop, he proceeded to do “Hail Mary” while basically moving around like he did and then was joined by Snoop, who asked him what kind of party do they have before they start doing there song, 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted from Pac’s All Eyez On Me album. Seeing them together brought back alot of memories and thinking about what could’ve been if he didn’t die and made me relive that moment when I found out when my favorite artist of all time had died. Then Snoop exited the stage while Pac finished his verse and then he stood there with his head down and heavenly angelic music played and his image disintegrated into particles.

The idea of the 2Pac hologram was an idea of Dr. Dre, which is rumored to cost between 100 to 400K. Also it is rumored that Dre and Snoop are going to use it when they go on tour. So maybe the hologram will make an appearance at a future concert.
