Daddy’s Hangout Presents NFL Predictions 12/29/2013

NFL1

Week 16 is in the books and once again I had another unsuccessful week as I finished with a 3-3 record, dropping my overall record to 64-30, while my winning percentage goes from 69.3% to 68.1%. This is the final week of the regular season and there’s still playoff positioning being fought for, division titles and playoff berths. In the NFC, we have 2 games that are for division titles and playoff berths. The first game will be the Green Bay Packers visiting the Chicago Bears for the NFC North title and the Philadelphia Eagles visiting the Dallas Cowboys for the NFC East title. Let’s Get Started!!!!!!!!!!

philadelphia-eagles-logoDallasThis is probably the most talked about game going into the final week and to the point where the game was pushed back to the Sunday Night game. Add to the fact that the status of Tony Romo has been the hot topic as to whether he’ll play or not. The Philadelphia Eagles travel to face the Dallas Cowboys for the right to be called NFC East champions and earn a playoff berth, which will be the 3rd seed and have a home playoff game. The Cowboys won the 1st meeting between the 2 earlier in the year 17-3 and Nick Foles suffered a concussion during the game. The Cowboys defense has looked like one of the worse defenses ever and the Eagles offense look like one of the best in the league after blowing out the Bears last week. I picked the Eagles to lose last week only for them to win, so I’m doing the same this week and going with the Cowboys.

Cowboys Win 30-24

Chicago_BearsLogo_Other1green-bay-packers-simple-logo-yellow-480x320.jpg w=480This is a battle for the NFC North title when the Chicago Bears visit the Green Bay Packers. These teams are longtime rivals that date back to the Vince Lombardi days and it’s still a heated rivalry. The Bears are coming off an embarrassing lost in Philadelphia last Sunday night when they could’ve won the division. Are the Bears better with Jay Cutler or Josh McCown as the QB? It seems like the Bears are still riding with Cutler!!! The Packers will finally get back their franchise QB in Aaron Rodgers but it seems like they’ll be without LB Clay Matthews. It was against the Bears that Rodgers broke his collarbone, so he’ll try to avenge that loss and win the division in the process. Can the Bears rebound from the debacle last week? I think the Bears will rebound just find and win this game.

Bears Win 34-27

San-Francisco-49ers-Picksarizona-cardinals5This is a battle between 2 NFC West teams that have a lot to play for which includes playoff berths, possible division title and playoff positioning also. The San Francisco 49ers has already clinched a playoff berth and they’re currently the 5th seed in the NFC but could finish as high as the #1 seed. The 49ers are coming off a tough Monday night win over the Atlanta Falcons to clinch a playoff berth. The Arizona Cardinals could be one of the hottest teams in the NFL and could finish with an 11-5 record and not make the playoffs because of the Saints, whom they lost to earlier in the season. They’re coming off a huge road win in Seattle last week and if they make it to the playoffs they would be a tough team to beat because of their tough defense. I’m going with the Cardinals to win this game!!!!!!

Cardinals Win 23-21

new_york_jets_logo_prodmiami-dolphins-helmet-logo-6-primaryThe Miami Dolphins control their own destiny because all they have to do is win and they’re the 6th and final seed in the AFC playoffs. The New York Jets visit Miami in the season finale and they’re trying to play spoiler to the Dolphins making the playoffs. The Jets were actually in the playoff race until about a week or 2 ago, so what would be better than spoil a division rival chance of making the playoffs. The Dolphins control their own destiny because all they have to do is win and they’re in. The Dolphins beat these same Jets about 4 weeks ago in New York 23-3 and the Dolphins have bounced back from a season that has so much turmoil you would think that this is no pressure at all. With that said, I’m going with the Dolphins to win this game and make the playoffs.

Dolphins Win 27-17

Baltimore-Ravens-LogoCincinnati_Bengals_helmet_rightfaceThis is a battle of 2 AFC North rivals with one already in the playoffs and trying to improve their seeding and the other is trying to make the playoffs. The defending Champion Baltimore Ravens are trying to make the playoffs as they travel to play the division winning Cincinnati Bengals. The Ravens need the Dolphins to lose for a chance to make the playoffs and they were on a roll winning 4 games in a row before being blown out by the Patriots last week at home. The Bengals lost to the Ravens earlier in the year in OT but they have won 4 out of their last 5 games. With a win they still have a chance to earn a first round bye and the 2nd seed if the Patriots were to lose. I’m going with the Bengals to win this game!!!!!!!

Bengals Win 24-17

kansas-city-chiefs-logosan-diego-chargers-logo-designHere is another match-up with playoff implications when the Kansas City Chiefs, who’s already locked in to the 5th seed in the AFC playoffs meet the San Diego Chargers. The Chiefs started the season 9-0 before going 2-4 the final 6 games. The Chiefs have been dealing with several injuries on the defensive side of the ball and the offense was shut down last week by the Colts. The Chargers have won 4 out of their last 5 games which included wins over Kansas City and Denver, the 2 top teams in the division. But the Chargers will need a lot of help to make the playoffs because they need the Dolphins and Ravens to lose for them to have a chance to make the playoffs. Since the Chiefs are stuck in the 5th spot and the Chargers are playing great, I’m going with San Diego.

Chargers Win 31-21

Let’s see if I can get to the 70% mark before the playoffs start. If my predictions hold up then the playoffs will go as follows below and I think the Saints will beat the Bucs.

#2 New England Patriots

#3 Cincinnati Bengals vs. #6 Miami Dolphins

#4 Indianapolis Colts vs. #5 Kansas City Chiefs
