Daddy’s Hangout Presents College Football Predictions: Bowl Edition 12/30- 1/6/2014

NCAA

With this being my final prediction post of the season hopefully I can go out with a bang and hit the 70% mark. Last week I was terrible and seems to be on a losing slide to close out the season. My record was 5-5, dropping my overall record to 60-32 and in the process dropping m winning percentage from 67.1% down to 65.2%. I basically have to kick ass to get to 70% but I’m not holding out hope. Let’s Get Started!!!!!!!!!!!

Middle Tennessee vs. Navy- Navy

Ole Miss vs. Georgia Tech- Ole Miss

Oregon vs. Texas- Oregon

Arizona State vs. Texas Tech- Arizona State

Arizona vs. Boston College- Boston College

Virginia Tech vs. UCLA- UCLA

Rice vs. Mississippi State- Mississippi State

Duke vs. Texas A&M- Texas A&M

Nebraska vs. Georgia- Georgia

UNLV vs. North Texas- North Texas

wisconsin_logoSouthCarolinaLogoThis is a battle of hard hitting teams when the Wisconsin Badgers who represents the Big Ten face the South Carolina Gamecocks, who’s out of the SEC. This is the Capital One Bowl between 2 teams that had bigger plans when the year started for a possible BCS Bowl. The Badgers have always been known for tough running and a tough defense, which is no different this year because they’re ranked in the top 10 in both of those categories. The Gamecocks are led by a tough running game also seeing they put up over 200 yards a game on the ground in the tough SEC and they gave up 20 points a game on defense, ranking them in the top 15 in that category. This shouldn’t be a high scoring game and I’m taking the Gamecocks to pull it out.

Gamecocks Win 27-17

Iowa vs. LSU- LSU

Stanford-university-logo2Michigan_State_LogoThis is a battle between 2 teams that sorta mirror each other. The Stanford Cardinal finished 11-2 and the Pac-12 champion for a 2nd consecutive year faces the Michigan State Spartans, who finished the season with a 12-1 record and Big Ten champion. The Cardinal beat the Sun Devils to advance to this game 38-14 with a tough offense along with a stingy and tough defense. The Spartans pulled off a big upset by beating the previously unbeaten Ohio State Buckeye team 34-24, which prevented them from playing for the BCS title. Their only loss came by only 4 points to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish earlier in the year. This will be a tough game to pick but I’m going with Cardinal to win with a strong run game.

Cardinal Win 26-21

UCFBaylor_logo3This is the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl when the University of Central Florida Knights faces the Baylor Bears. The UCF Knights were 3 points away from being undefeated when they lost to the South Carolina Gamecocks. The Knights are led by QB Blake Bortles, who is being looked at as a top 5 draft pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. UCF surprised everyone by winning the American Conference when most people had Louisville being the conference champion. The Baylor Bears possess one of the most potent offenses in the country and they actually have the top scoring offense in the country averaging over 53 points a game and ranked in the top 5 in passing offense. The only loss they suffered was against Oklahoma State and they were pretty much shut down. I think the Bears offense will shine in this game and the defense will play decent to give them the win.

Bears Win 38-28

alabama-football-logo-wallpaperoklahoma-sooners-logoThis is a battle between 2 legendary programs in the Allstate Sugar Bowl when the Alabama Crimson Tide meets the Oklahoma Sooners. The Crimson Tide was a miracle play away from playing in another BCS Championship game. The Tide are still one of the best teams in the nation and will be highly favored coming into this game because of that tough defense and running game. It’s also hard to beat a Nick Saban coached team when he’s giving about a month to prepare for a team. This is a time for Coach Stoops and the Sooners to show that they’re still one of the best teams in the country. This will be a game where Stoops can back all the talk he’s done in the past about the SEC not being as good as people make them. Oklahoma will have a tough time moving the ball against the Tide and I think the Tide will roll over the Sooners.

Crimson Tide Win 35-17

oklahoma st logomissouri-tigers-alternate-logo-3-primaryThis is a battle between 2 teams that lost in their respective conference championship game in the AT&T Cotton Bowl when the Oklahoma State Cowboys runner-up in the Big 12 meets the Missouri Tigers who was the runner-up in the SEC. The Cowboys lost to their in-state rival Oklahoma Sooners in the final game making the Baylor Bears the conference champion. They possess a great offense, one that average just a shade under 40 points a game which make them rank in the top 15 in the nation in scoring. The Missouri Tigers in just their 2nd season in the SEC was the champions of the SEC East but lost to Auburn in the Championship game. These 2 teams used to be rivals seeing the Tigers are just 2 years removed from the Big 12 conference. This should be a great match-up between the CBs of the Cowboys and the WRs of the Tigers and I’m going with the Cowboys to win.

Cowboys Win 42-31

clemson-tigers-paw-logoOhioStateLogoThis is a game that features 2 dynamic QBs in the Discover Orange Bowl when the Clemson Tigers led by Tahj Boyd face the Ohio State Buckeyes who’s led by Braxton Miller. The Clemson Tigers possess the 11th ranked pass offense in the nation and ranked 10th in scoring in the nation. They’re also led by WE Sammy Watkins, who could be playing in his final game for the Clemson Tigers because he’s projected to be a 1st round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft if he declare himself for the draft. The Ohio State Buckeyes could’ve been playing for the BCS title if they didn’t get upset by the Michigan State Spartans in the Big Ten Championship game. Will they play up to their abilities seeing they were 1 game away from being undefeated again? This should be a game that’s full of offense and in the end I think the Buckeyes will win it.

Buckeyes Win 45-38

Vanderbilt vs. Houston- Vanderbilt

Arkansas State vs. Ball State- Ball State

fsu-logoAuburn_TigersThis is for all the marbles, yes this is the BCS Championship game between the #1 ranked team in the nation Florida State Seminoles taking on the #2 team in the nation the Auburn Tigers. The Seminoles are led by the Heisman Trophy winning Freshman QB Jameis Winston and the very efficient offense. The offense rank 2nd in scoring with 53 points a game, 14th in passing with over 320 yards in the air and 25th in rushing, while the defense is ranked 1st in points allowed giving up under 11 points a game. The Auburn Tigers got to this game by a couple of miracles including a tipped pass on 4th down against Georgia and of course the missed field goal return for a TD against Alabama. Are the Tigers a team of destiny or are the Seminoles just that much better than everyone else in the nation? Can the SEC make it 8 straight National titles? The running game of the Tigers will prove to be a test against the Seminoles but in the end I’m going with the Seminoles to win this game and the National Championship.

Seminoles Win the BCS Championship 45-31

Hopefully when it’s all said and done I’m hoping I can get to the 70% plateau.
