Daddy’s Hangout Presents NFL Predictions: Wild Card Edition 1/4/2014- 1/5/2014

NFL1

Week 17 is in the books, which marks the end of the regular season and my downward trend continued as my record was 2-4. My overall record drops to 66-34, which dropped my overall winning percentage from 68.1% to 66%. Now the playoffs are upon us and let’s see who’ll be one step closer to getting to the Super Bowl. Let’s Get Started!!!!!!!!!

kansas-city-chiefs-logoColts_LogoThis is the first game to kick off the Wild Card weekend when the Kansas City Chiefs visit the Indianapolis Colts. The Chiefs started the season 9-0 and one of the most talked about teams in the 1st half of the season as one of the favorites for the Super Bowl. After that great start they finished the season 2-5 and the injury bug hit them hard, especially on defense and that includes a loss to the Colts a couple of weeks ago at home. The Indianapolis Colts started the season hot and in a 4 week span they defeated the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks who’s considered Super Bowl favorites and then veteran WR Reggie Wayne went down with a knee injury. They alternated wins and losses in a 6 week span and in the wins they still didn’t look the same. They finished the season looking like the same Colts team that started the season by having a 3 game winning streak. I think the Colts will beat the Chiefs at home and advance to the Divisional Playoff round.

Colts Win 24-17

new-orleans-saints-logophiladelphia-eagles-logoThis is the Saturday night game and it features the New Orleans Saints visiting the Philadelphia Eagles. New Orleans started the season winning their 1st 5 games before being edged out by the New England Patriots in Week 6. They went on to lose 3 out of their last 5 games to finish the season but they have one of the best passing offenses in the NFL. They finish 2nd in the NFL in pass offense with over 300 yards a game through the air and with Drew Brees at QB, they always have a shot to win any game. Their defense is ranked 2nd against the run, so that’ll be a good match-up since McCoy lead the league in rushing this year. These same Eagles lead the league in rushing and on the other hand, they’re the worst team in pass defense. They have a top 10 team passing team also, that make them one of the most prolific offenses in the league. After going 3-5 in the first half of the season, they went 7-1 in the 2nd half of the season, making them one of the best teams in the league. How will the weather be in Philly Saturday night? The Saints don’t play well in cold weather, but I think they will prevail in this game.

Saints Win 31-30

san-diego-chargers-logo-designCincinnati_Bengals_helmet_rightfaceThis is the first game on Sunday when the San Diego Chargers visit the Cincinnati Bengals. The Chargers got into the playoffs by winning their last 4 games and having the Miami Dolphins and the Baltimore Ravens losing their final game. The Chargers could be the hottest team heading into these playoffs and Philip Rivers has played some of his best football he’s ever played. He’s lead them to a top 5 passing offense and during the 4 game winning streak to finish the season, 2 of those wins came against the Kansas City and Denver. The Cincinnati Bengals are winners of 5 out of their last 6 games and includes wins over the Colts and these Chargers also. They have a top 5 defense in both passing and rushing also!!! The only thing that could be a red flag is the play of Andy Dalton and seeing he threw 4 INTs last week. This is a battle of 2 really good teams but I think the Bengals will come out the winner of this game and head to New England in the Divisional Playoff round.

Bengals Win 24-14

green-bay-packers-simple-logo-yellow-480x320.jpg w=480San-Francisco-49ers-PicksWe have the final Wild Card game of the weekend when old foes meet when the San Francisco 49ers visit the Green Bay Packers. The 49ers come into the playoffs with a 6 game winning streak after starting the season on a down note. Colin Kaepernick faced a lot of criticism with poor play at the beginning of the season and the 49ers still finished with the 3rd worse pass offense. But they shined everywhere else including finishing 3rd in the league in rushing, while the defense was strong as usual finishing 7th in passing and 4th in rush defense. The Green Bay Packers are the definition of having a roller coaster season because they started the season 5-2, which included an opening day loss to the 49ers. Aaron Rodgers got hurt and they went 2-5-1 and then he came back for the final game and guided them to a victory to make the playoffs over the Bears. With Clay Matthews being out of the picture because he’s out with an injured thumb I don’t think the Packers can stop the offense of the Niners, so I’m going with the 49ers to win this.

49ers Win 31-28
