Daddy’s Hangout Presents NFL Playoffs: Super Bowl Edition 2/2/2014

Super-Bowl-2014-Seahawks-vs-Broncos

The last post I done predicting the Conference Championships had to be 2 of the hardest games I had to pick. In the first game I predicted that the Patriots would beat Broncos again on the strength of their running game and the weakness in the Broncos secondary. As you know by now, the Denver Broncos defeated the New England Patriots 26-16 on the strength of a flawless performance by Peyton Manning and a tough defense. In the second game I thought the 49ers would finally defeat the Seahawks on the road because I thought they were the hottest team going into the Conference Championships. As you know by now, the Seattle Seahawks defeated the San Francisco 49ers 23-17 in a tough game that saw Richard Sherman made a game winning play that lead to an INT to win the game. You may have heard about it!!! Let’s Get Started!!!!!!!

seattle-seahawks-logoThe Denver Broncos come into this game as the top scoring team in the NFL along with having the top ranked passing offense also. On the other hand you have arguably the toughest defense in the NFL, especially the secondary of the Seahawks. The defense ranks 1st in the league in pass defense, top 10 in rush defense and they’re ranked in the top 5 when it comes to rush offense, which is led by “Beast Mode” Marshawn Lynch. The Denver Broncos enter this game with a 15-3 record and was looked at as the favorite to be playing in this game when the season started. Peyton Manning shattered just about all the passing records this year with almost 5500 yards passing and 55 TDs thrown. He also has one of the best receiving corps in the NFL with Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas, Eric Decker and Wes Welker. How will they fare against the Seahawks defense? The Seattle Seahawks also enter the game with a 15-3 record and they were my favorite at the start of the season to get to this point also. The Seahawks offense isn’t as explosive as the Broncos, but the defense is in a league of their own. The pass rush will give Manning fits and the physical play of the secondary will give the Broncos receivers issues all game because they haven’t seen a secondary like the Seahawks before. Will Percy Harvin be a huge factor for the Seahawks whether it’s running the ball, being a WR or coming out of the backfield? At the end of the day, if it’s a shootout I think the Broncos have the edge and if it’s a close low scoring game I would think it favors the Seahawks. In a tough game I’m going with the Broncos to win with a last second FG to win the game at the end.

Denver Broncos Win Super Bowl XLVIII 23-21
