Men tend to need less sleep than women, and they also are able to fall asleep faster than women. But, men also tend to have a poorer quality of sleep because of things like snoring and not being ready for bed the way women are. These things can help men get a better night of sleep right now.
Make Sleep Schedule and Ritual
One thing women do often, without even thinking of it, is a nighttime ritual or routine. They tend to go to bed at the same time every night and do the same thing before going to bed. By doing this, they signal to the brain that it is time to unwind. Men can do this, too! Once your body and brain get used to a routine, they will start to follow it. Start your routine at least one hour before bed to get your brain and body in the “sleep space” so that when you do get into bed, you are ready for it.
Change Up Your Eating Habits
This one is particularly important for men because they usually are the ones to overeat and eat too close to bedtime. Be sure to eat just enough before going to bed so that you are comfortable, but be sure to eat at least two hours before going to bed. This will give your food time to settle and digest, and gives you time to determine if you need to take a walk or eat more before heading to bed. It is particularly important to avoid nicotine, caffeine and alcohol as much as possible, and especially too close to bed time, because these things interfere with sleep.
There are many reasons for not getting enough sleep, and one of those includes naturally occurring insomnia. If you have insomnia, for whatever reason, try one of these supplements to help you get some sleep. They are all-natural and work! Melatonin is a hormone found naturally in your body made by a small gland in the brain. It helps with sleep cycles and can be found in supplement form. Valerian Root as a sedative for thousands of years, but it is unclear on how much one should actually take. Both of these supplements can be found in most major grocery or health food stores.
If you don’t get out enough energy, your body won’t be tired enough to sleep. Studies have also shown that people who exercise every day are more relaxed and sleep better at night- especially men! Exercise at least 30 minutes a day for the best results, but not within an hour of bedtime. You don’t want to have your heart rate ramped up while you’re trying to wind down.
So who have issues sleeping at night? I work at night but the couple of nights that I am home it used to be an issue sleeping at night.
