On September 23 at the in front of 500 students with his family, faculty, and staff also attending.  Focus Features presented the $1,500 scholarship to Samuel ahead of the nationwide release of “The Boxtrolls” on Friday, September 26.  GSMST faculty and administrators selected Samuel for the award based on his creativity, inventiveness and dedication to the school and his community.  Samuel’s passion for helping others within the school mimics “The Boxtrolls” fearless boy-leader, Eggs, as he ventures above ground to save his troll friends.

Samuel is currently in the process of applying for college, and he will use the scholarship toward his education.  Samuel started the GSMST Freshmen Mentoring Program, a tutoring program for 50 9th graders.  He is the President of the school’s National Honor Society and was the GSMST representative at the International Federation for the Teaching of English conference in Atlanta this past summer.

This is great to see and it’s where I stay which makes it extra special.

The Boxtrolls can be seen in theaters nationwide now!!!
