Monday Night Raw Review from Chicago September 2014

Monday_Night_Raw

We have another edition of Monday Night Raw and they’re in C.M. Punk territory, which is the Windy City aka Chicago. Last week wasn’t a great edition of Raw and I don’t know what’s going on with Raw lately, but hopefully things can get back on track.

Good

The Opening Segment: Man Stephanie was killing the crowd when they were chanting for C.M. Punk as she asked why the crowd was cheering for a quitter. Paul Heyman interrupted Triple H while he was talking but Stephanie got into his face until Seth Rollins came out to cut a promo also. When Heyman left Rollins was cutting a promo when Ambrose showed up on the TitanTron and told the Authority if they wanted the MITB briefcase to come and get it. When they were leaving to go look for Ambrose the music of John Cena came on and he attacked Rollins on the ramp but Rollins escaped. Great segment!!!

Dolph Ziggler vs. Cesaro vs. Miz: What a great match!!! Matches like this will give the IC championship credibility and this is why Dolph needs to keep the title. I would love a feud with him & Cesaro!! Several nearfalls, great spots and just some good wrestling that the fans were into and were chanting “This is Awesome”.

Singles Push for Luke Harper: Are they about to give Luke Harper a singles push? If so, that would be great.

Dean Ambrose: This dude is the shit!!!! It was funny when Joey Mercury and Jaime Noble came out to get the briefcase and he said the Authority sent the cruiserweight division to get him. Afterwards he proceeded to throw the clothes from the bag into the crowd. Security came out to get the briefcase and he asked if they were real security because they were Rosebuds last week and then he left. When Rollins got his briefcase and opened it, green slime squirted into his face while Mercury & Noble laughed and the crowd chanted Ambrose.

Bo Dallas vs. Mark Henry: Just because it was good to see Bo Dallas get a victory but later on in the back while Bo Dallas was doing an interview he was destroyed by Mark Henry.

Brie Bella vs. Cameron & Eva Marie: This isn’t good because of the match, but Brie being put into the handicap match by Nikki which is what she was going through. How good was it seeing the crowd chanting YES! And how much do you miss Daniel Bryan?

Rusev/Big Show Confrontation: I don’t have an issue with Rusev feuding with Big Show now and it should continue to the end of the year or near there.

The Best of Sting DVD Preview: Sting is my all-time favorite wrestler and I get goosebumps anytime they have him on Raw and if he were to ever show up live on Raw, I’d go crazy.

Hulk Hogan Speaking about Cancer: They honored members who survived cancer who were there at Raw. There need to be a cure for this deadly disease because so many people are affected by this disease and also have lost their fights against it. My uncle lost his battle earlier in the year to cancer and countless members of my family have lost it also.

John Cena & Dean Ambrose vs. Kane & Randy Orton: Not because of the match, but seeing how Cena and Ambrose was going after Rollins when he attacked Ambrose. They started going after each other because they both wanted Rollins but it lead to Cena & Orton getting hit with a chokeslam from Kane, an RKO from Orton and the curb stomp from Rollins, which the crowd chanted “Thank You Rollins” when he hit the curb stomp on Cena.

Bad

Alicia Fox vs. A.J. Lee: I think it’s time to bring in more divas or maybe use Natalya better because they wasted a good opportunity with Fox when she was doing the crazy gimmick and then stopped.

Sheamus vs. Damien Mizdow: I don’t know where they’re going with the Mizdow character, but he deserves so much better because he strives in these BS roles they give him.

Ugly

Layla vs. Rosa Mendes: Rosa has not improved in all the years she’s been in the WWE and did someone’s weave fall out? Don’t know if Natalya and Tyson Kidd are having issues but I don’t like this storyline.

Heath Slater & Titus O’Neil vs. Los Matadores: Really!!! Hornswoggle as an alligator, anything with Hornswoggle is corny.

Overall Rating: 6/10- This was better than any Raw has been in a few weeks which was led by a great Triple threat IC championship match between Dolph, Cesaro & Miz. The opening segment was really good also with the interaction between the Authority, Paul Heyman and Dean Ambrose, but man Stephanie was on point last night. Dean Ambrose continues to be pushed and highlighted on Raw, which is a good thing. Seeing the preview of the Sting DVD gave me chills and I’m actually ordering the DVD now as I type this out. I’m all for a big-time push for Luke Harper but I wonder what that will do for Bray Wyatt. As you see what are the things that I hated about Raw under the Bad & Ugly.

Top 5 Happenings on Raw:
1) Dean Ambrose is that dude
2) Triple threat IC Championship match
3) Opening Segment
4) Fight Against Cancer with the Susan B. Komen Foundation
5) Sting DVD Preview
