Daddy’s Hangout Week 9 NFL Predictions for 2014

nfl-logo

Welcome to Week 9 of the NFL season and actually the half-way point of the season. Last week my record was 4-3 and my overall record dropped to 31-16 that drops my winning percentage from 67.5% to 66%. This week I’ll be predicting 6 games and hopefully I can go on another win streak to get closer to the 70% goal. Let’s Get Started!!!!

new-orleans-saints-logoWe start off with the Thursday night game between division rivals as the New Orleans Saints visit the Carolina Panthers. The Saints looked like the old Saints team last week as they blew out the Packers to take over the division lead from the Panthers. New Orleans has the 2nd ranked pass offense and their pass defense is next to last entering this game. Now let’s look at the Carolina Panthers, who’s won only 1 out of their last 6 games coming into this one. They can overtake 1st place in the division with a win but they could be in trouble with a loss also. I’m going with the Panthers @ home!!!

Panthers Win 34-31

arizona-cardinals5DallasThis is a battle between 2 of the best teams in the NFC as the Arizona Cardinals visit the Dallas Cowboys. The Cardinals are the only team in the NFC with only 1 loss and a win here could create some distance in the home field advantage discussion. The Cardinals are coming off an impressive win over the Eagles last week at home, can they continue their success? The Cowboys are coming off a shocking defeat this past Monday at home against the Redskins and 3rd string QB Colt McCoy. The big question is, will Tony Romo be able to play in this game? Whether he plays or not will be huge but I believe the Cowboys will pull off the victory.

Cowboys Win 27-21

philadelphia-eagles-logoHouston_Texans_LogoThe Philadelphia Eagles travel to face the Houston Texans in a big match-up between teams that are hoping to be in the playoff picture at the end of the year. The Eagles are coming off a heartbreaking loss in Arizona last week are trying to rebound and keep pace with the Dallas Cowboys for the division lead. Can they score enough against this Texans defense lead by J.J. Watt? Houston has one of the best rushing offenses in the league and this will be key against the Eagles defense and to help QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. This is a tough game to pick but I believe the Eagles will pull off the win in this one.

Eagles Win 27-24

New_England_Patriots_HelmetWhat do we have here? This is another chapter in the long history of Peyton Manning vs. Tom Brady as the Denver Broncos visit the New England Patriots. The Broncos are on a 4 game winning streak and Peyton Manning has been on fire pretty much all year. Can the Broncos defense do enough to stop the Patriots scorching hot offense? The Patriots are also on a 4 game winning streak after rumors there were a rift between management and Tom Brady after losing badly to the Chiefs a month ago on Monday night. This will be a great game and I believe the Patriots will pull it out.

Patriots Win 31-30

Baltimore-Ravens-LogosteelersThis is the Sunday night game between 2 big-time rivals as the Baltimore Ravens visit the Pittsburgh Steelers for the division lead. The Ravens are coming off a disappointing loss in Cincinnati last week in a real close game and need to win this key division game. The offense has been hot these last 3 games and will need that to continue against the red hot Steelers offense. Last week, Big Ben and the Pittsburgh Steelers put on a clinic against the Colts and it seems like everything is falling into place for them. One issue with the Steelers has to be that we don’t know what team we’re getting from week to week but against the Ravens they will show up & win.

Steelers Win 20-17

Colts_LogoNew_York_GiantsNow this is the Monday night game as the Indianapolis Colts visit the New York Giants. The Colts had their 5 game winning streak snapped last week in Pittsburgh and they are looking to rebound after giving up over 500 yards in passing to Big Ben. Andrew Luck is still one of the best QBs in the league and he’s having an MVP type season so far. The New York Giants are coming off their bye week after losing a tough game in Dallas the week prior. Despite all the injuries the Giants have on the team it hasn’t stopped them from playing good ball. They play really good after bye weeks until Coach Coughlin and they will win on Monday.

Giants Win 30-24

Well that’s it for Week 9 of the NFL season and hopefully I can start another winning streak to get closer to that 70% winning percentage. What do you think about this week’s picks? Come back next week to see how I fared with those picks.
