2015 Extreme Rules PPV Review

2015 Extreme Rules PPV poster

Welcome to the Extreme Rules PPV review as they hail from Chicago, Illinois. Coming into this PPV, I really didn’t have high expectations and you’ll get to see what my thoughts were coming out of this PPV. Some sad news a few hours before the Extreme Rules PPV when we learned that Daniel Bryan hasn’t been cleared to defend his championship against Bad News Barrett. Instead, we had the tag title match bumped onto the main card and Barrett battled Neville in the Kick-Off show match. Let’s see how things played out!!!

Dean Ambrose/Luke Harper

I’ve enjoyed the feud between these 2 thus far and thought coming into this match, this could be the match of the night. They basically were beating the hell out of each other until they exited the building, took off and disappeared until later in the night where they picked up where they left off. In the end, Ambrose finally picked up a PPV win but I don’t think this feud is over with yet. Winner: Dean Ambrose

Match Rating: 3/5

Sheamus/Ziggler

The Dolph/Sheamus feud was going really well until they announced their match at Extreme Rules would be an Kiss My Arse match…………..pause. This had to be a potential to be a great match also and in reality it was a good match, but the gimmick is cringeworthy. In the end, Ziggler picked up the win out of nowhere, but he was the one who had to kiss the arse of Sheamus. Winner: Dolph Ziggler

Match Rating: 2.5/5

Cesaro/Kidd/NewDay

Coming into this match I really didn’t know how things would go seeing that the champs are heels and the challengers are becoming heels. Most people were upset that the Lucha Dragons didn’t get to challenge for the titles, but that was a good decision. The crowd was firmly behind the champs and New Day got the usual “New Day Sucks” chants. This was a really good match between these 4, well 5 and in the end; New Day pulled out the upset and became the new tag champs. I’m interested to see how things go with them winning the titles; will Cesaro & Kidd become faces? If so, what happens with the Lucha Dragons and aren’t the Primetime Players faces too? Winners and New Tag Champs: New Day

Match Rating: 4/5

Cena/Rusev

This feud has been going on now for about 3 months now and I’ve actually enjoyed it very much. Some people hated the idea of Cena winning the belt off of Rusev, but I love it and it has added value to the title. I really didn’t like the stipulation in this match and thought they could’ve went in another direction and I think the match kind of suffered because of it. In the end, Cena picked up the win to retain the U.S title. Winner and Still Champ: John Cena

Match Rating: 2.5/5

Nikki/Naomi

This whole situation with Naomi becoming a heel and out of nowhere the Bellas are supposed to be faces made me lost interest in the match. In the end, this match wasn’t as bad as expected and I just want to see how things go from here. Nikki picked up the win with the help of Brie!!! Winner and Still Divas Champ: Nikki Bella

Match Rating: 2.5/5

Show/Reigns

Coming into this match I was thinking, why are they putting Roman Reigns in a feud with the Big Show because most of the crowd are wanting for him to retire. This match was pretty good and it saw several crazy spots between these 2 and in the end, Reigns finally conquered the Big Show and he was the last man standing. For the record, I’m still a huge Roman Reigns fan and he’s come pretty far and he’s vastly improving. Winner: Roman Reigns

Match Rating: 3.5/5

Rollins/Orton

We know coming into this match the RKO was banned, Kane was the Gatekeeper and the steel cage was to keep people from interfering in the match. This match was alright, but we knew that Kane would get involved in this match, which he did. When it was Orton/Rollins involved in the match by themselves, there were some pretty good action but not on the level of their WrestleMania match. During the match, Orton hit Rollins with the Pedigree but in the end, Rollins hit Orton with the RKO for the win. Winner and Still Champ: Seth Rollins

Match Rating: 3/5

Overall Rating: 6/10- This PPV wasn’t great, but it wasn’t bad either. We had some head scratchers, some pretty good matches, couple of aight matches and a great tag team match. The match of the night for me was the match for the tag team championships and I’m eager to see what’s next. The matches between Ambrose/Harper, Show/Reigns and Ziggler/Sheamus were good despite the gimmick match. The Orton/Rollins and Rusev/Cena matches were decent and the storyline with the Bellas and Naomi messed up their match.
