Monday Night Raw Review 8/3/2015

RIPPiper

Welcome to another edition of Monday Night Raw as they hail from San Jose, CA and we’re less than 3 weeks away from the Summerslam PPV. Last week was a pretty good edition of Monday Night Raw and hopefully they’ll start announcing some match-ups for Summerslam seeing it will be 4 hours this year.

Good:

Rest in Peace “Rowdy” Roddy Piper: They opened with all the superstars on the stage with Hot Rod T-Shirts on. After the 10-bell salute, they played an impressive video package in the memory of the late, great Roddy Piper. He was definitely one of a kind and was one of the wrestlers I got into in the mid-80s that made me the huge fan I am today. #RIPRoddyPiper

Seth Rollins Promo and Open Challenge: Rollins came out donning a new shirt; he talked about breaking the nose of John Cena’s and when they went to commercial and came back, he was still in the ring and issued an open challenge, but the person had to be under 6ft. tall and under 200 lbs. He was hoping for El Torito, but Neville answered the challenge!! The match between Neville and Rollins was freakin awesome!! This match had everything from great wrestling, great spots and a couple of really close calls where Neville almost became champion and the crowd was really into it. After Neville missed the 2nd Red Arrow, Rollins hit the Pedigree for the win.

Lucha Dragons & Los Matadores vs. New Day & The Ascension: Pretty entertaining 8-man tag match and hopefully they’ll announce a tag title match really soon.

Charlotte & Becky Lynch vs. Bella Twins: This was another really good match with the Divas; also the addition of Becky Lunch and Charlotte has really lit a fire under the division. Charlotte picked up the win over Nikki and I’m wondering if there will be a match for the Divas title at the PPV.

MizTV w/Cesaro & Kevin Owens: Great tribute to Roddy Piper by the Miz to start out the segment. This segment would go on to focus on the feud between Cesaro & Kevin Owens. I’m really looking forward to this match at the PPV, if they make it official.

Paige vs. Naomi: This match started off kind of slow, but it quickly picked up steam and turned out to be a pretty good match and the crowd was into it also.

Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose & Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper & Sheamus: Pretty good, action packed main event with all guys doing their thing. This was a good match and with all 6 of these guys likely a part of Summerslam, this was a good build.

Bad

Rusev vs. Mark Henry: This was a complete squash by Rusev!!

Zack Ryder vs. Bad News Barrett: Battle between 2 guys that had so much potential.

Overall Rating: 7/10- This was another pretty good Monday Night Raw, even though it wasn’t as great as the couple of weeks. I’d love to see a feud or more matches between Seth Rollins and Neville because their opening match was really good. The tribute to the late, great “Rowdy” Roddy Piper was very well done as usual and it’s really sad because the world just lost Dusty Rhodes about a couple of months ago. My only gripe is we only have 1 official match for Summerslam, which is less than 3 weeks ago and the show will be 4 hours long.

Possible Summerslam Matches:
Brock Lesnar w/Paul Heyman vs. The Undertaker (Confirmed)
Seth Rollins vs. John Cena (Title vs. Title)
Divas Title Match
Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose vs. Wyatt Family
Cesaro vs. Kevin Owens
Ryback vs. Big Show
Primetime Players vs. New Day
Rusev vs. Dolph Ziggler
Sheamus vs. Randy Orton
Stardust vs. Neville
