College Football Predictions Week 3

Daddy's Hangout NCAA Football Predictions logo

Welcome to another exciting week of college football and hopefully I can finally get to the 70% winning percentage. Last week, my record was 2-1, with all of them being really close games and now my record is 7-4, barely raising my winning percentage from 62.5% to 63.6%. This week I’ll be predicting five games and I would need to get all of them correct to get above that 70% mark. Let’s Get Started!!

Ole Miss Rebels logoAlabama LogoThis is the top game of the week as the 15th ranked Ole Miss Rebels travel to face the 2nd ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in a key SEC West match-up. The Rebels have started just as good as any team this racking up a combined 149 points in the first 2 games. If you remember last year, the Rebels pulled off the huge upset against the Tide and they’re hoping to make it two years in a row. On the other side, Alabama can stake the claim of having one of their best groups of guys on defense this year and that says a lot. The offense is without Amare Cooper, but Henry has carried them the first couple of games and he will need to come up huge in this one. Could this be a breakout game for Henry and put his name up there as a front-runner for the Heisman? Who knows, but the Tide will win this game!!

Crimson Tide Win 34-24

Georgia Tech logoNotre Dame Fighting Irish logoHere’s another match-up between top 15 teams as the 14th ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets face off against the 8th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish. As expected, the Georgia Tech offense is one of the best in the nation and they’re looking to make some serious noise this year and this could be a perfect game to make that statement. The Fighting Irish lost their starting QB Malik Zaire for the year, making those 5 starters out for the year for the Irish. Can the Irish overcome the odds and beat a really good Georgia Tech team? Yes they can, but I don’t think they will, I’m rolling with the Ramblin’ Wreck!!

                                                                                  Yellow Jackets Win 38-35

Auburn LogoLSU Tigers logoHere’s another big match-up in the SEC West as the 18th ranked Auburn Tigers travel to face the 13th ranked LSU Tigers. To say that the Auburn Tigers struggled the first couple of games is most definitely an understatement. Last week, they almost lost to Jacksonville State, which dropped them 12 spots after barely edging them out in OT. Can Auburn rebound against LSU? Last week, LSU played their first game and it was in Starkville against then 25th ranked Mississippi State and they pulled out the tough win. It seems like LSU has been the forgotten team in the SEC West, but not anymore as they beat Auburn.

                                                                                  LSU Tigers Win 26-17

BYU-Logo-BigUCLA Bruins logoLet’s head out to the West Coast for this match-up as the 19th ranked BYU Cougars face off against the 10th ranked UCLA Bruins. The Cougars opened the season with a couple of impressive wins over Boise State last week and Nebraska the opening week with the Hail Mary. The Cougars lost their starting QB again in the opening game and they’re hoping to continue their magical season. The Bruins have looked impressive so far this season also and they’re being led by a Freshman QB, who plays like he’s a 3 year starter. Can the Bruins continue their run and be serious contenders in the Pac-12? I’m going to say yes!!

                                                                                  Bruins Win 35-24

Florida State logoBoston College logoThe final game is a huge one in the ACC as the 9th ranked Florida State Seminoles travel to face the Boston College Eagles in a Friday night game. The Seminoles have been efficient in the first couple of games, but it seems like they’re still missing something. Dalvin Cook has been in mid-season form; especially last week when he compiled up 266 yards on the ground, but for the Seminoles to be successful Golston will have to have a good game also. Boston College wants to be taken seriously and with a win over the Seminoles they could definitely get that recognition. Everything is in place for them by playing at home and on a Friday night, but I think they will come up short.

Seminoles Win 31-30

There you have it, hopefully I can rebound from the first couple of weeks and get above the 70% winning percentage. What did you think about my picks? Would you have chosen differently in any of those games?
