Tips for Staying Motivated with Exercise During the Cold Winter Months

Exercising in the Winter

With Fall and Winter coming up, the weather is going to be getting much much colder outside. I don’t know about all of you, but when it’s cold outside I get in an exercise funk and there is something comes over me that makes me just really not want to do that! It is important that you don’t stop your regular exercises during the cold months of the year because you not only don’t want to gain that weight from the all of the food that you will be consuming but you always don’t want to lose the muscle and stamina you have been building up all Summer. Here are a few tips for not losing that motivation when it’s cold outside!

-Think about all the work you have put in: If you have been working hard all summer to get the body you want and you have been living in a healthy lifestyle, don’t give up now!! You don’t want to lose all the progress that you’ve made in the health of your body, so even though it may be harder to get yourself to get into a workout routine, but you can do it if you put your mind to it…I promise!!

-Switch up location: If you are someone who normally exercises outside or if you venture out to a gym for working out, try switching it up! You will be more motivated to work out in the winter time if you can do it from home! Look up some simple, effective work outs that you can do at home! There are so many out there that really give you an amazing work out and you don’t even need any sort of equipment or anything like that.

-Buy cute clothes: Some really great motivation for me personally is to buy some really great, cute clothes! I find this to be really motivating because I don’t want to lose what I have worked hard on with my body and not be able to fit into those clothes! Clothes are a great motivation, so go ahead and run out and treat yourself to some really beautiful clothing and it will keep you motivated to be able to fit into those clothes!

-Find a friend: I highly suggest getting a friend to workout with you, especially in the Winter time when you are less motivated to do it! Having a friend to work out with is a really great thing because you can keep each other motivated and accountable. So that way there will be no cheating on your exercise routine!

-Create goals: I am extremely goal oriented person, so basically that means if I set a goal I will do anything in my power to be able to reach and achieve that goal! I suggest getting a goal journal. You can track day by day how close you are to reaching your goal! Tracking your progress will help to keep you motivated to keep going and working hard to accomplish what you have been working for.

Don’t give up just because it’s getting cold outside! Stay motivated and keep working towards being healthy and having a healthy lifestyle!
