Welcome to another exciting weekend of college football and this is basically rivalry week the week before the conference championships. Some people are still complaining about the College Football Playoffs Ranking, but things will eventually play itself out or at least I hope they do. Last week was a horrible week for me as my record was 2-5, which dropped my record to 39-22. My overall winning percentage dropped from 68.5% to 63.9% and that’s a tough blow being so close to the end of the regular season. This week I’ll be predicting seven games, so this will either make or break me. Let’s Get Started!!!
We’ll start in the Big 10 conference as the 8th ranked Ohio State Buckeyes visit their rival, 10th ranked Michigan Wolverines. The Buckeyes are coming off a tough loss at home last week against the Spartans. They’re hoping to still find a way into the playoffs to defend their championship, but they need to win this game and have the Nittany Lions upset the Spartans to make that happen. The Wolverines could also win the East Division with a win over the Buckeyes and a Spartans loss. The Wolverine defense is good enough to beat Ohio State, but how about the offense? I’m going with the Buckeyes!!
Buckeyes Win 26-17
This is the top match-up on Friday between a couple of Big 12 teams as the 7th ranked Baylor Bears visit the 19th ranked TCU Horned Frogs. With Baylor starting their third QB due to injuries, they still have a shot to win the Big 12 Championship and possibly advance to the playoffs. The Bears need Oklahoma State to beat Oklahoma and of course, they must win this game also. The Horned Frogs season didn’t go as they wanted, but they still can play spoiler for the Bears playoff hopes. Trevone Boykin is likely to play in this game and I believe they will beat the Bears.
Horned Frogs Win 45-42
We stay in the Big-12 conference with the battle of Oklahoma as the 5th ranked Sooners visit the 11th ranked Cowboys, which could be a battle for the conference championship. The Sooners have looked like one of the best teams in the country with wins over Baylor and TCU in consecutive weeks. Will Baker Mayfield be on the field for the Sooners in this huge match-up? The Cowboys suffered their first loss last week at the hands of Baylor, but if the Bears were to lose on Friday, they could claim the Big 12 title with a win. This will be a great game, but I think the Sooners are the better team.
Sooners Win 37-31
We have a huge rivalry game as the 4th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish visit the 12th ranked Stanford Cardinal. The Fighting Irish are now on the outside looking in as far as the College Football Playoffs are concerned, dropping from fourth to sixth. They would need a lot of help if they still have hopes to making the playoffs and also pull off the big win at Stanford in the process. The Cardinal was in the thick of things until they lost to Oregon a couple of weeks ago, but they’re still in the chase for the Rose Bowl with a win. This is another tough one, but I think the Cardinal will pull off the upset.
Cardinal Win 24-23
We have a battle of Florida as the 14th ranked Seminoles visit the 9th ranked Gators. The Seminoles are playing to spoil the chances of the Gators to make the playoffs and put themselves in better position for a good bowl. The Seminoles had the chance to rest some of their key players last week because they played Chattanooga and blew them out. The Gators are a team of mystery because they play well against a tough opponent, but play horrible against teams they should beat like last week against Florida Atlantic. This is a tough opponent for the Gators at home and I believe they will win.
Gators Win 24-20
We have a huge battle between a couple of ranked Mississippi teams as the 19th ranked Rebels visit the 22nd ranked Bulldogs. The Rebels started the season with hopes of making the playoffs, but a couple of losses have derailed those hopes. The Rebels still have a chance to win the SEC West if they beat the Bulldogs and the Crimson Tide loses to Auburn. The Bulldogs are coming off a wild, tough Arkansas game last week. Mississippi State could end the hopes of the Rebels of winning the SEC West with a win, but I believe the Rebels have a better team and will win.
Rebels Win 31-30
Hear we have the Iron Bowl as the 2nd ranked Alabama Crimson Tide visit the Auburn Tigers in a huge game. The Crimson Tide needs to win this game to advance to the SEC Championship. They also need the win to remain in the hunt to make the playoffs at the end of the year and hopefully walk away with another national championship. The Auburn Tigers are at the bottom of the SEC West and haven’t had a good season, so they would love to spoil the championship hopes of the Crimson Tide. The Tide is on a Roll and I believe they win again.
Crimson Tide Win 27-17
