This past Saturday marked the beginning of the college football bowl season and luckily, I started off with a 5-0 record. My overall record in college football prediction rises to 54-23, making my winning percentage jump from 68.1% to 70.1%, which is my highest winning percentage this late into the season. In this post, I’ll be predicting five games, which will carry me all the way to Christmas Eve. Let’s Get Started!!
This is the lone Monday game as we have the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers facing the South Florida Bulls in the Miami Beach Bowl. The Hilltoppers finished the season with an 11-2 record and they won the Conference USA championship in the process. They come into this game with one of the best offenses in the country, ranking 6th in passing yards and 4th in points scored. On the other hand, we have the South Florida Bulls who avoided a disastrous season by winning their final seven out of eight games after starting the season 1-3. I have the Hilltoppers getting the win.
Hilltoppers Win 34-24
We have the one of two games on Tuesday as the Akron Zips face the Utah State Aggies in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. The Zips finished the season 2nd in the Eastern division of the MAC conference. They finished the season on a four game winning streak, despite having one of the worse offenses of the country. Can the Zips pull off the win in their very first bowl game? The Aggies finished the season losing three out of their last four games, but they still managed to finish the season with a 6-6 record to become bowl eligible. I believe the Aggies will pull off the win!
Aggies Win 27-24
We have a battle between a couple of teams that could’ve been a part of a bigger bowl as the 24th ranked Temple Owls face the Toledo Rockets in the Marmot Boca Raton Bowl. The Owls came up short in the American Conference championship game against Houston, but they still could finish the season with 11 wins. Can the Owls finish the season on a high note? The Rockets had a great season that saw them pick up them upset then 18th ranked Arkansas to start their season. They put up 35 points a game throughout and they’ll give the Owls fits, but I’m going with Temple.
Owls Win 34-31
We have the first game on Wednesday as the Boise State Broncos face the Northern Illinois Huskies in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. The Broncos won their final game after losing the previous two games. The Broncos come into this game ranked in the top-20 in passing yards and points scored. Can the Broncos finish the season on a high note? The Huskies come into this game on a two game losing streak after winning six games in a row. The Huskies average over 200 yards a game on the ground and could help, but I still think the Broncos will win this game.
Broncos Win 37-27
We have the GoDaddy Bowl as the Georgia Southern Eagles face the Bowling Green Falcons. The Eagles are basically last in the college football in passing yards and rank first in rushing yards with over 355 yards a game. The Eagles finished the season losing two out of their final three games, but they almost pulled off the huge upset over the Georgia Bulldogs. The Bowling Green Falcons won the Mac championship to finish the season over Northern Illinois to get to 10 wins. The Falcons are looking for a win to help build momentum for next year and I believe they’ll win.
Falcons Win 38-28
