Monday Night Raw Review for 2/22/2016 from Detroit

Monday Night Raw Detroit

Welcome to another edition of Monday Night Raw as it took place in Detroit, Michigan. After a surprisingly good Fastlane PPV last night, we are now officially marching towards WrestleMania now. As a blogger, full-time parent and working at night, my plate is really full at-times which was the case last week is the reason I didn’t do a review of Monday Night Raw. Let’s see what will happen with WrestleMania being a little over a month away, but we saw before anything started and what was posted on the WWE Facebook page that Brock Lesnar attacked Dean Ambrose.

Opening Segment: Monday Night Raw opened with Mr. McMahon coming out to give out the Vincent J. McMahon award, but first he talked about his grandfather and father being promoters of sports entertainment throughout the northeast territories. The winner of the award was none other than Stephanie and as she was about to start talking then the music of Shane McMahon hit and OMG he’s back after about 6 years. WOW!!!! The crowd went absolutely NUTS!!!!! Vince went to hug Shane, but he was met with a stiff arm and avoided Vince trying to shake his hand. After some going back & forth, Stephanie was mad and left the ring while Shane held the rope for her. As Vince kept asking Shane what he wanted and was willing to write him a check, but Shane said he wanted control of Monday Night Raw. Vince said he’ll give Shane what he want, but he would have to wrestle one time, one night and it’s at WrestleMania against the Undertaker.

Lucha Dragons & Neville vs. New Day: Really exciting match between all six of these guys. Neville & Kalisto hit a couple of big spots on the outside, but in the end Kofi Kingston hit the Trouble in Paradise on Sin Cara for the win.

Paul Heyman Promo: Whenever Heyman delivers a promo; you can’t do anything but to stop what you’re doing and pay attention. This man could sell a match between Brock Lesnar and a paper bag if he’d have to. After he finished his promo, you heard an ambulance and it was Dean Ambrose driving the ambulance into the arena and he still had his neck brace on. Ambrose stumbled out of the ambulance to the ring where he was met by Brock Lesnar and Lesnar stepped on his head as he went up the aisle. Ambrose grabbed the mic, told Brock to kiss his ass and challenged Lesnar to a match at WrestleMania in a No Holds Barred Street Fight. Lesnar went back to the ring, hit an F-5 on Ambrose and accepted the challenge from Ambrose for WrestleMania.

A.J. Styles & Chris Jericho vs. Social Outcasts: This match came about when Social Outcasts interrupted Jericho & Styles after Y2J called out Styles and complimented him. As far as the match, it wasn’t that bad and I may be the minority, but I would like a small push with Slater & Axel teaming up.

Naomi vs. Sash Banks: This was a pretty good match between these two with Becky Lynch attacking Tamina for interfering allowing Sasha Banks to pick up the win with the Banks Statement. Afterwards, Charlotte came out and announced that Lynch & Banks would face each other in a #1 contender’s match!!

The Godfather Entering the Hall of Fame: With the APA inducting him, we should get a pretty entertaining segment with these guys.

Roman Reigns vs. Sheamus: Not for the match, but halfway through the match we hear the music of Triple H and he & Reigns fought. After Reigns clothesline Triple H over the barricade, he came back and hit Reigns in the face with the ring bell and proceeded to beat the hell out of Reigns. Triple H beat the hell out of Reigns busting him open and finally the officials broke it up, but Triple H hit the pedigree on a bloody Reigns on the steel steps.

Usos vs. Ascension: The Ascension had so much potential when they left NXT and I believe that potential is still there.

Wyatt Family vs. Big Show, Ryback & Kane: Wasn’t a big fan of the match at the PPV and not a fan of this one either. I’m confused with the heel turn by Ryback though!!

Overall Rating: 8/10
