Monday Night Raw Review the Day after WrestleMania

Monday Night Raw Review the Day after WrestleMania

It’s been a long, action packed weekend for the WWE in Dallas and if you were lucky enough to be there, it should’ve been a great weekend. Everything started Friday night with the NXTTakeover: Dallas, which was amazing, then Saturday night was the WWE Hall of Fame, Sunday night was WrestleMania and everything comes to a halt with Monday Night Raw. As many of you know, the night after WrestleMania produces the best crowd the entire year and anything can happen. With so many rumors of returns and call-ups, this should be an exciting edition of Monday Night Raw.

Opening Segment: We kicked off Monday Night Raw with Mr. McMahon where he talked WrestleMania and his son, Shane getting beat by the Undertaker @ WrestleMania. As Vince was leaving, the music of Shane hit and the crowd greeted him with a tremendous pop. He came out to thank the crowd, shake the hand of Vince to say he won and to tell the crowd goodbye. As he was leaving, Vince stopped him and said he could run Raw to see how things go, but on an interim basis.

New Day vs. League of Nations: This match was for the tag titles because the League beat New Day the night before @ WrestleMania. Before the match, New Day came out to a thunderous ovation and cut a promo with the crowd every bit behind them. As far as the match went, it was a pretty good match, the crowd was into it very much and in the end, New Day picked up the win. After the match, Sheamus picked up the mic and said they shouldn’t be losing matches and they kicked out King Barrett with a Brogue Kick. If that wasn’t enough, the Wyatt Family made their way to the ring and they beat up the League of Nations.

Apollo Crews vs. Tyler Breeze: The first NXT call-up was Apollo Crews and if you haven’t followed him, check him out because he’s great. He made quick work of Breeze and he was very impressive and athletic.

Roman Reigns Segment: Reigns came out to a chorus of boos and he came to the ring with a smirk on his face. He said he’s not a good guy or bad guy, but he’s THE GUY and if anyone wants a shot at the title, come get some and he dropped the mic. Chris Jericho came out to say he deserves the first shot at the title, and then A.J. Styles, Kevin Owens and then Sami Zayn followed. They all began to fight in front on Reigns and in the end, Jericho was in the ring by himself, but was met with a big spear from Reigns. I’m a huge fan of Reigns, but his demeanor and attitude tonight screamed HEEL, so please WWE do the job.

Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler: A night after winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, Baron Corbin made his Monday Night Raw debut and he was pretty impressive against Dolph. I have huge expectations for Corbin and in the end, they fought to a double countout and Corbin hit End of Days on the outside afterwards.

Zack Ryder vs. Miz: Before the match, Ryder cut a very emotional promo about winning the title @ WrestleMania. He talked about taking a picture with the title with Scott Hall when he was a kid, then showed it and after his victory; Scott Hall took a picture holding the title he just won. He also thanked his dad for supporting him for the long ride and then he was interrupted by Miz. The match wasn’t all that special, but after the Miz got in the face of Ryder’s dad he was pushed away. That brought out the wife of Miz, Maryse which is always nice to see her and she help Miz beat Ryder and become the new Intercontinental champ.

Women’s Championship Segment: This was well done and put the women over big time; also Charlotte was awesome on the mic. After she put over the ladies, then she basically ripped them and they all left except Natalya. Charlotte told Nattie that her family is better than hers, so it seems like we may have a Flair/Hart feud.

Debut of Enzo & Big Cass: Man the crowd went freakin’ nuts when their music hit. They had the crowd in the palm of their hands and it seems like they’re going to be feuding with the Dudleyz. Great debut!!!

Chris Jericho vs. A.J. Styles vs. Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro: This match included Sami Zayn, but Owens attacked him backstage while giving an interview. Lilian Garcia announced that Zayn couldn’t compete and she announced the returning Cesaro. If you didn’t catch this match, please find a way to watch it because the match was really good. This match had a lot of actions, several nearfalls and some really good spots. In the end, A.J. hit the Styles Clash on Jericho to become the new #1 contender for the WWE title. Great Match!!!

Sasha Banks vs. Summer Rae: Summer Rae was in the ring when they came back from commercial and she started talking about Banks, who quickly came to the ring to a huge pop and beat Summer Rae real quick.

Usos vs. Dudley Boyz: This match didn’t do anything for me or the crowd.

Overall Rating: 8/10- As expected, this edition of Monday Night Raw was GREAT!! From the call-ups from NXT, new feuds on the horizon and some good matches, this Monday Night Raw was hot from the beginning to the end.
