Monday Night Raw from Baltimore for 5/23/16

Monday Night Raw from Balitmore

Welcome to another edition of Monday Night Raw with it taking place in Baltimore, the night after a really good Extreme Rules PPV. With the return of Seth Rollins and the Money in the Bank PPV on the horizon, Monday Night Raw should be really good so let’s see how things played out.

Hit

Opening Segment: Monday Night Raw kicked off with Seth Rollins making his way to the ring as the crowd went crazy for him. He cut a prom about how much he missed being in the WWE ring, how he rehabbed twice a day to get back early and how he’s taking back the championship he never lost. Afterwards, he talked about not needing the fans and then the music of Roman Reigns hit, and then he made his way to the ring. Seth Rollins began baiting him, but left when Reigns entered the ring and then the music of Shane McMahon hit. Shane made his way to the ring and told Rollins to get in the ring, he then talked about Rollins never losing the title and then Shane made the match between the two for the Money in the Bank PPV.

Sheamus vs. Sami Zayn: This was the first qualifying match for the Money in the Bank match. This was a pretty good and physical match-up between these two and Sami Zayn pulled out the win over Sheamus to advance. After the match, Sheamus attacked Apollo Crews while he was giving an interview in the back with Renee Young.

Miz vs. Cesaro: This was the second qualifying match-up for the Money in the Bank match. This was another phenomenal match-up between these two with a lot of back and forth action from the two of them. In the end, Cesaro hit the Neutralizer to pick up the win and advance to the Money in the Bank match.

Chris Jericho vs. Apollo Crews: This was the 3rd qualifying match-up for the Money in the Bank match. Both men entered the match kind of banged up with Jericho having the tough match against Ambrose in the Asylum match and Crews being attacked by Sheamus earlier. The match started out slow, but it really picked up and the crowd was really into the match as this turned into a good wrestling match. In the end, Jericho hit the Codebreaker to pick up the win.

Charlotte/Ric Flair/Dana Brooke Segment: When I thought Charlotte couldn’t get better, she went full-fledge heel mode by basically tossing Ric Flair to the side and said she doesn’t need him anymore.

Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler: The match was alright between these two guys, but it seems like Ambrose has lost some steam and I don’t know how he can get it back.

Kevin Owens vs. A.J. Styles: All I can say is WOW!! This was an excellent match between these two and I’m cool with Owens picking up the victory. Honestly, I would’ve had Gallows & Anderson interfere in the match. Either way, I have Owens getting the briefcase and being a future WWE champ.

New Day vs. Social Outcasts: This match wasn’t a hit because of the match, but the promo they cut before the match. It’s crazy how over New Day is right now when they first started this gimmick I didn’t think it would get them over?

Bubba Ray Dudley vs. Big Cass: It was great to see Enzo back, but as far as the match, it felt a little flat. I’m still looking forward to this feud when it gets going after Enzo is fully healthy.

Overall Rating: 8/10- This was a really good edition of Monday Night Raw and I’m really looking forward to the Money In the Bank PPV with the MITB match and the championship match. I’m also intrigued with the dealing between Styles and the Club going forward and the possibilities.
