Daddy’s Hangout Smackdown Live Review from Bakersfield

Smackdown Live Bakersfield

Welcome to another edition of Smackdown Live with it taking place in Bakersfield, CA. With Summerslam less than two weeks away, we’re hoping to continue storylines to build towards the PPV. Last week, Smackdown Live was really good so hopefully things continue to move in the right direction. Let’s see how things turned out!!

Good

Opening Segment: Smackdown Live started with a promo from Bray Wyatt as he was accompanied by Erick Rowan. Bray talked about being the victim and having his opportunity taking away from him, which brought out Dean Ambrose. They cut promos on each other and Bray invites him to the ring, but the music of Dolph Ziggler hit and he get in the ring to start attacking Wyatt & Rowan. They all fight and in the end, Ziggler tried to superkick Bray, but he hit Ambrose instead and then he hit Rowan with a superkick and was met with Sister Abigail.

Eva Marie vs. Becky Lynch: Last week she couldn’t compete because she “injured” herself and this week she had a wardrobe malfunction. Afterwards, Becky Lynch issued an open challenge and it was accepted by Alexa Bliss. Bliss went on the win the match after Eva Marie made an appearance to cause a distraction to Lynch, allowing her to beat Becky Lynch.

Randy Orton vs. Alberto Del Rio: This was a pretty good match from these two as we saw Alberto Del Rio get DQ’d when he used a chair on Orton. After beating on Orton on the outside, Del Rio threw him back in the ring and was met with an RKO when he tried to hit Orton with a chair.

Heath Slater vs. Rhyno: This match was for Slater to get a contract on Smackdown Live. In the end, Rhyno hit the Gore for the win and Slater still doesn’t have a contract. I’m digging this storyline with Slater because he’s actually a pretty good wrestler.

Bad

American Alpha vs. 2 Jobbers: Before the match started, all the tag teams on Smackdown came down to the ring. They made quick work of the jobbers and the other tag teams entered the ring to fight and they were the only ones standing. I think this showcased that the tag division is pretty weak on Smackdown.

Carmella vs. Natalya: I wasn’t a fan of this match, but I do believe that Carmella got a lot of potential.

Dolph Ziggler & Dean Ambrose vs. Wyatt Family: The match wasn’t bad, but I don’t like how they’re booking Bray Wyatt because he needs to be added to the championship match. It’s hard to believe that he’s never held any title in the WWE.

Overall Rating: 5.5/10- This edition of Smackdown was just alright as it lacked excitement. This edition exposed that American Alpha are the only good tag team, I’m still on the fence with Carmella and I don’t like how Bray Wyatt is being booked as it seems like he’ll be left off the Summerslam card.
