Daddy’s Hangout Monday Night Raw Review from Corpus Christi

Monday Night Raw from Corpus Christi

Welcome to another edition of Monday Night Raw with it taking place in Corpus Christi, TX as we’re 6 nights away from the Summerslam PPV. Last week Monday Night Raw was decent at best and with Summerslam this coming Sunday, hopefully things will pick up. The big news this week in the world of sports is the retirement of A-Rod, how impressive the 2016 Olympics have been and NXTTakeover: Brooklyn II this coming Saturday. Let’s see how things will play out on Monday Night Raw.

Rusev and Lana started out Monday Night Raw saying they’re taking over the show until Roman Reigns come out to apologize to Lana. The music of Mick Foley hit and he came to the ring to tell them to leave the ring. After Rusev insulted Foley, he ordered Stephanie to come out and then her music hit as she made her way to the ring. She told Rusev that she shouldn’t be disrespecting Foley and she supports all his decisions. The music of Roman Reigns hit and he came down to the ring then insulted Rusev & Lana, but Rusev said he wants to fight Reigns for the honor of Lana. Afterwards, Foley made the match for later on tonight.

Sami Zayn vs. Sheamus: This was a pretty good match between these two as expected. In the end, Cesaro distracted Sheamus and that allowed Zayn to hit the Helluva Kick for the win.

Brock Lesnar/Paul Heyman/Heath Slater: Brock Lesnar & Paul Heyman came to the ring and as soon as Heyman was about to cut a promo, but was interrupted by Heath Slater. Paul Heyman was about to speak again, but was interrupted by Slater again and then said he had kids to feed. Brock got on the mic then said he respected him because he got kids also and told Slater to get in the ring. After Slater got in the ring, Lesnar said that he doesn’t give a shit about his kids and said he got two choices with one being he could walk out of the ring on his own or he could keep pissing him off. Then Lesnar proceeded to beat the hell out of Slater and then Heyman got in the ring and cut a great promo.

Big Cass vs. Kevin Owens: The match wasn’t that great because Jericho interfered and he & Owens eventually beat down Big Cass after he knocked out Enzo. This furthers the expectations of their match-up at Summerslam.

Neville vs. Jinder Mahal: I’m a huge fan of Neville and hopefully with the Cruiserweights coming to Monday Night Raw, he’ll get a good push.

Seth Rollins/Finn Balor: Seth Rollins basically calling Finn Balor aka The Demon King since the beginning of Monday Night Raw and after cutting a promo, Balor made his amazing entrance and got a “Holy Shit” and “This Is Awesome” chant from the crowd. They battled each other and Balor got the best of Rollins in the end. Looking forward to their match at the PPV!!

Roman Reigns vs. Rusev: I’m digging this feud so far and the match they had in the main event was really good with the crowd loving every bit of it. In the end, Reigns hit a huge spear to pull off the victory.

New Day vs. Dudley Boyz: No comment.

Nia Jax vs. Local Jobber: That girl took a pretty hard bump, but now it’s time for Nia Jax to face someone other than jobbers now.

Primetime Players vs. Shining Stars: The reunion was short lived as Young accidentally ran into Titus and O’Neil came in the ring to hit the Clash of the Titus on Young allowing the Shining Stars to get the win.

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. The Golden Truth: The Golden Truth tag team had potential, but now not so much.

Charlotte vs. Alicia Foxx: This match didn’t do anything for me, maybe because Foxx haven’t been on TV in months.

Overall Rating: 6/10- This edition of Monday Night Raw didn’t have too many great matches, which is fine because they pushed the storylines heading into Summerslam. My gripes from Raw were seeing the Dudley Boyz continue to be jobbers, The Golden Truth, an Alicia Foxx sighting and a couple other things. Below are the top 5 happenings from Monday Night Raw and the card for the Summerslam PPV.
