Daddy’s Hangout Smackdown Live Review from Austin, TX

Smackdown Live from Austin

Welcome to another edition of Smackdown Live with it taking place in Austin, TX as we’re five nights away from the Summerslam PPV. Last week, Smackdown Live wasn’t too great and seeing that Summerslam is this coming Sunday, hopefully they can hit a home run on the final show before the PPV. Let’s see how things will turn out as we head to Summerslam.

Good

Opening Segment: We started Smackdown Live with MizTV with Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler as the special guests. They cut promos on each other and while Ziggler was in the face of Ambrose he hit him with a swift super kick.

American Alpha, Usos & Hype Bros. vs. Vaudevillians, Ascension & Breezedango: This was actually a pretty action-packed match between all 12 of these guys with American Alpha picking up the win for their team.

Eva Marie vs. Naomi: Eva Marie no-showed again and it creates more heat on her, which is a good thing.

Randy Orton vs. Heath Slater: This thing with Heath Slater is becoming one of the more entertaining this on WWE TV lately. The match was pretty much a beatdown and Orton got DQ’d, but he continued to beat down Slater and even hit a couple of suplexes while mocking Brock. In the end, he hit the RKO and later on, Heath Slater earned a contract, but had it taken away because he confused Shane with Stephanie.

Dean Ambrose vs. Erick Rowan: This wasn’t a bad match and I actually see potential in Erick Rowan because he’s an agile, big man. In the end, Ambrose hit him with Dirty Deeds for the win and afterwards, Bray Wyatt took the sheep mask of Rowan and lay in on his chair and walked off in disappointment.

Carmella & Becky Lynch vs. Natalya & Alexa Bliss: This was a pretty entertaining tag match and towards the end, Eva Marie appeared as a distraction, but Naomi came out and ran her off. Becky Lynch won the match for her team with the Dis-Armer on Natalya.

John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio: Very good match between these two as expected because they have great chemistry with each other. After the match, Styles hit a Phenomenal Forearm on Cena then cut a promo. As he as leaving, Styles came back in the ring and was met with an Attitude Adjustment and another one through the announce table.

Bad

Vignette for the Return of Curt Hawkins: I don’t know what to think about this gimmick yet, but at least he’s getting some buzz for his return.

Overall Rating: 8/10- This was a really good go-home show put on by Smackdown Live. The show was very smooth and that’s what I like about a 2-hour show, plus they added more drama for the Ambrose/Ziggler and Cena/Styles matches. Below are my top 3 happenings from this edition of Smackdown Live.

Top 3 Happenings from Smackdown Live:

  1. MizTV with Dean Ambrose & Dolph Ziggler
  2. Heath Slater
