Daddy’s Hangout Smackdown Live Review from Lincoln

Smackdown Live from Lincoln

Welcome to another edition of Smackdown Live with it taking place in Lincoln, NE and five days away from the Backlash PPV. Let me apologize for not doing a review last week, but my DVR didn’t record it for some odd reason. Let’s see how things went and hopefully things pick up with Backlash being this Sunday.

Opening Segment: We started Smackdown with Daniel Bryan in the ring leading a YES! Chant and he talked about crowning the first ever Women’s Smackdown champion this coming Sunday. He says they’re going to have a 6-women tag match, but first they’re going to have a woman’s forum before introducing Becky Lynch. As Becky Lynch was cutting a promo, she was interrupted by Natalya, then Alexa Bliss and Carmella. As they were all arguing, Natalya, Bliss & Carmella was about to jump Becky, but Naomi & Nikki Bella made the save?

The Miz vs. Apollo Crews: This was a good match between these two and Miz picked up the win over Crews after using Dolph Ziggler as a distraction.

Bray Wyatt Promo: Bray always delivers great promos no matter what and this was no different. I’m looking forward to his match against Orton this coming Sunday.

Carmella, Alexa Bliss & Natalya vs. Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch & Naomi: This wasn’t a bad match by the ladies as they all did their thing. In the end, Carmella made Nikki Bella submit in the middle of the ring to give her team the win.

American Alpha vs. Usos: American Alpha made quick work of the Usos after they were attacked after the bell rung. The Usos came in the ring to congratulate them, but they attacked them and it was announced that Chad Gable will be out 2-4 weeks with a sprained MCL.

Rhyno & Heath Slater vs. Hype Bros: This wasn’t a great match, but I’m glad to see Rhyno & Slater advance to the finals of the tournament.

A.J. Styles/Dean Ambrose Segment: This was a pretty good segment, but I would like to see Ambrose get serious for once so it can make his character more of a “Lunatic Fringe” or maybe he’ll eventually snap. I’d like to see Styles win the title from him and Ambrose goes nuts over losing the championship.

A.J. Styles Interview with Renee Young: I didn’t see the point of that entire segment.

Fandango/Kane Segment: No comment.

Overall Rating: 6.5/10- Although Smackdown Live wasn’t bad; it just lacked excitement for me, which is my only major gripe. I shook my head at the A.J. Styles interview with Renee Young and the Fandango segment where Kane interrupted.
