Daddy’s Hangout Monday Night Raw Review from Baltimore

Monday Night Raw Baltimore

Welcome to another edition of Monday Night Raw with it taking place from Baltimore. With the first Raw-only PPV, Clash of Champions less than two weeks away so hopefully they continue the build towards a good event. Last week was a pretty good edition of Monday Night Raw, but not as good as the previous ones. Monday Night Raw is hoping to have a nice outing in a couple of weeks with their PPV seeing that Smackdown Live produced a great Backlash PPV. The big news in the wrestling world is probably C.M. Punk losing in his debut match in the UFC to Mickey Gall. Let’s see how things turned out on Monday Night Raw!!

Good

Opening Segment: Monday Night Raw kicked off with Mick Foley congratulating Smackdown Live on a great PPV and his friend, Becky Lynch on becoming the new Smackdown Women’s Champ. He called Charlotte to the ring where she basically belittled her sidekick, Dana Brooke but Sasha Banks made her way to the ring followed by Bayley. Both ladies laid claim as to why they deserve a shot at the Women’s championship. Mick Foley came up with the idea of having Bayley & Sasha Banks should face each other, but Dana Brooke slapped Charlotte and Foley made it a triple threat match with the winner facing Charlotte at Clash of Champions.

Sasha Banks vs. Bayley vs. Dana Brooke: This was actually a pretty good match between these ladies. All the ladies did their thing; even Dana Brooke looked pretty good in the match. The end came when Bayley hit the Bayley-to-Belly on Brooke, but was rolled up by Banks as she went for the pin.

Highlight Reel with Sami Zayn: This was a really good Highlight Reel as Jericho poked fun at Zayn because he’s Kevin Owens new best friend and Zayn was the old ex-best friend. Sami Zayn talked about Jericho, along with Dean Malenko and Eddie Guerrero are the reason why he got in the business. In the end, Jericho hit Zayn with a cellphone and the code-breaker to finish the segment. Later on it was announced that Zayn and Jericho will battle each other at the Clash of Champions.

Cesaro vs. Sheamus: This was another really good match between these two once again. Cesaro pulled off the win when he rolled up Sheamus and held the ropes making the series 3-2 in the favor of Sheamus.

Nia Jax vs. Alicia Fox: Now this has done more for Nia Jax than anything she’s done on the main roster. The match had to be stopped because Nia Jax speared Alicia Fox through the barricade.

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. New Day: This was actually a pretty good between these two teams and The Club came away with the win with the Magic Killer.

Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns: This was the main event with the stipulation if Reigns win, Owens defends the title against him & Rollins, but if Owens wins he’ll only face Rollins at the PPV. The match itself was really good with things picking up towards the end with several nearfalls, but towards the end Seth Rollins attacked Owens and it caused a DQ finish. Mick Foley came out and grilled Rollins, but restarting the match saying the match isn’t ending that way. In the end, Rusev distracted Reigns allowing Owens to hit the pop-up powerbomb for the win. After the match, Rusev beat the hell out of Reigns and had him in the accolade as Raw went off the air.

Bad

Bo Dallas vs. Brandon Scott: Well the crowd was chanting let’s go jobber in this match.

Jinder Mahal vs. Jack Swagger: I have no idea why Mahal got the victory here because they still could do something with Swagger.

Enzo vs. Epico: Why in the hell are they feuding with the Shining Stars and why in the hell did they get pinned for the second consecutive week, do they have backstage heat?

Overall Rating: 6/10- This wasn’t a bad edition of Monday Night Raw, but it did feature a few head shaking matches and segments. I’m guessing Bo Dallas and Braun Strowman are taking turns beating up jobbers. I know that the WWE seems to think Jack Swagger is worthless at the point, but jobbing to Jinder Mahal? My biggest head scratcher has to be Enzo & Big Cass not only feuding with the Shining Stars, but taking the loss in consecutive weeks.
