Monday Night Raw from Memphis

Welcome to another edition of Monday Night Raw with it taking place in Memphis, TN. With Clash of Champions being this Sunday, hopefully we’ll get a good build towards to the PPV and maybe add a couple of matches in the process. The big news coming in this week has been the rumored return of Luke Harper and Paige to WWE programming, plus the cruiser weights debuting on this coming Raw after a really impressive Cruiser weight Classic. Last week was another pretty good Raw, but it could’ve been better. Let’s see how things turned out on Monday Night Raw from Memphis.

Good

Opening Segment: Monday Night Raw kicked off with Roman Reigns coming to the ring and as he was about to cut a promo, the music of Stephanie McMahon hit. She came out and told Reigns that he wasn’t allowed to dictate things on Raw, but understood why he’s mad. Mick Foley hit the ring and made the match between Rusev & Reigns for Clash of Champions for the United States Championship. In the main event that night, Foley booked a rematch between Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns, in which Stephanie said the title isn’t on the line. Mick Foley said since Rollins & Rusev interfered in the main event last week, they would face each other that night also.

Seth Rollins vs. Rusev: This was a pretty good match between these two. The match ended in a double countout, which I’m cool with because they may feud in the future. Rusev went to powerbomb Rollins on the announce table, but Rollins reversed it, then kneed him off the stage and followed that with a cross body.

Charlotte & Dana Brooke vs. Sasha Banks & Bayley: We learned that at the Clash of Champions that Charlotte would defend her title against Sasha Banks and Bayley because both of their shoulders were down last week. The tag match between the ladies was action packed with Charlotte pinning Bayley to pick up the win for her team.

Cesaro vs. Sheamus: This was another really good, physical match between these two. It seemed like Sheamus was about to wrap up the series a few times, but in the end Cesaro tied up the series at 3 with the Neutralizer. The final match of the series will take place at the Clash of Champions.

New Day, Sami Zayn, Enzo & Big Cass vs. Chris Jericho, Shining Stars, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson: This started out as a segment from Jericho talking about his displeasure for Mick Foley, but he was interrupted by Big Cass & Enzo. Afterwards, the Shining Stars came to the ring, followed by the New Day, which got the crowd going crazier. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson hit the ring and then Jericho left saying he was creating a list of stupid idiots and they all were on it, but Sami Zayn came down the aisle to attack Jericho and it was turned into a huge 10-man tag match. The match saw a lot of action and in the end, Enzo pinned one of the members of the Shining Stars.

Eddie Guerrero Hispanic Heritage Month Video: Damn I miss the hell out of Eddie Guerrero; he’s definitely one of my favorite wrestlers of all-time.

The Cruiser weights Have Finally Arrived on Raw: Mick Foley introduced Gran Metilik, Rich Swann, Brian Kendrick and Cedric Alexander to the Raw crowd. The four competed in a Fatal Fourway match with the winner facing T.J. Perkins at the Clash of Champions for the Cruiser weight Championship. The match was freakin’ awesome and the crowd let them know how much they loved the match. In the end, Kendrick won via submission on Cedric Alexander to advance to face Perkins at the Clash of Champions.

Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns: This match took place in a steel cage and it was a pretty good match. The end came when both of them were trying to get out of the cage at the same time and it was Reigns who was the winner. Rusev attacked after the match, but Reigns was getting the best of him until Owens kicked the cage door in the face of Reigns. They tossed Reigns in the ring and locked the door with a steel chain. They continued to assault Reigns in the ring as Rusev put him in the Accolade until Seth Rollins made the save by climbing the cage and hitting a cross body from the top of the cage.

Bad

Braun Strowman vs. Sin Cara: This was more than we’ve ever seen from Strowman at least.

Bo Dallas vs. Jobber: I think it may be a little too late for Bo Dallas, but the fans were chanting for the jobber though.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10- My only gripes about this edition of Monday Night Raw would be the two squash matches, that’s all. I’m looking forward to what should be a very entertaining Clash of Champions PPV.
