Daddy’s Hangout NFL Predictions for Week 3

NFL

Welcome to the 3rd week of the NFL season and this is also the first day of the fall season. Last week I took a couple of steps back by going 3-4, dropping my overall record to 7-8, which dropped my winning percentage to 46.7%. My goal is still to finish with a 70% winning percentage, but I need to improve before I try to reach that goal. This week I’ll be predicting a total of 7 games with the hopes of leaving with a winning record. The big news of the week has to be the injury to Adrian Peterson that will keep him out for up to 4 months. Let’s get started!!

Houston Texans Logo NFLNew England Patriots helmet logoWe start with the Thursday night game between two 2-0 teams as the Houston Texans visit the New England Patriots. The Texans are coming off a tough win against the Chiefs last week and now they face another AFC team that made the playoffs last year. Houston may have picked up a gem in the draft in Will Fuller, who compliments DeAndre Hopkins really good. Can they pull of the upset? The New England Patriots are riddled with injuries with the Gronk not playing in a game yet and Jimmy Garoppolo having a sprained AC joint in his shoulder. Can the Patriots still pull off the victory? I still think New England wins this game at home against Houston.

New England Win 24-17

Denver Broncos logo NFLCincinnati Bengals NFL helmet logoWe have another AFC clash between two teams that made the playoffs last year when the Denver Broncos visit the Cincinnati Bengals. The defending Super Bowl champion, Denver Broncos faces a really tough road challenge against the Broncos. This will be the first game without DeMarcus Ware as he’ll be out around a month after breaking his forearm. Can the Denver defense remain dominant without Ware? The Cincinnati Bengals will be facing their 3rd consecutive playoff team this season. They defeated the Jets, and then lost to the Steelers last week; can they beat the world champions? I’m going with the Bengals to win this one at home.

Cincinnati Win 24-23

Minnesota Vikings NFL logoWe head to the NFC for a match-up between two teams that made the playoffs last year as the Minnesota Vikings visit the Carolina Panthers. The Minnesota Vikings will be without their all-pro Adrian Peterson, who had knee surgery and expected to miss up to 4 months. The defense of the Vikings has been the story for this team and will need a huge performance against Carolina. The Panthers offense looked great last week and with the return of Kelvin Benjamin, this team could be poised for another Super Bowl run. This should be a defensive battle and I think the Panthers win this game.

Carolina Win 25-17

New York Jets logo NFLKansas City Chiefs NFL logoThis action packed week continues with a pair of teams who made the playoffs last year as the New York Jets visit the Kansas City Chiefs. The New York Jets have relied on their high powered offense, which flourished last week against the Bills. Could it be that Ryan Fitzpatrick is starting to get into regular season form? Will the Jets defense show up against the Chiefs? Kansas City is coming off a tough loss against the Texans last week where the offense couldn’t get going. Can Alex Smith rebound from a terrible game and lead the Chiefs to a win? This is a tough one for me, but I think the Chiefs take care of home.

Kansas City Win 24-21

Pittsburgh Steelers NFL logo NFLPhiladelphia Eagles logo NFLWe have the battle of Pennsylvania between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles, who both are 2-0. The Pittsburgh Steelers are the best team in the league in my eyes because they have a top notch offense and stellar defense. Pittsburgh is coming off a tough win against their division rival where Antonio Brown didn’t have his usual big game. Is Antonio Brown poised for a big game? The Philadelphia Eagles have been one of the most talked about teams in the league because of rookie QB Carson Wentz. This will be his toughest game by far against the stout Steelers. I think the Steelers will pick up the win in this one.

Pittsburgh Win 31-21

Chicago Bears LogoDallas Cowboys Star Logo NFLThis is the Sunday night game as the Chicago Bears visit the Dallas Cowboys. The Chicago Bears have been dealing with all sorts of injuries, most notably Jay Cutler who’s dealing with a sprained thumb on his throwing hand. If that wasn’t enough, the defense has been roughed up and that isn’t good with them facing the best offensive line in the game. Can the Bears make this a game? The Dallas Cowboys escaped Washington last week with a tough win as Dak Prescott continues to play good, mistake free football. Can the Cowboys get Ezekiel Elliott on track in this game? I think the Cowboys win big in this game!!

Dallas Win 38-17

Atlanta Falcons NFL helmet logoNew Orleans Saints Logo NFLWe have our Monday night game between NFC South rivals as the Atlanta Falcons visit the New Orleans Saints. The Atlanta Falcons offense looked great last week in their game in Oakland and they’re hoping for a repeat performance. The Falcons are monitoring Julio Jones, who’s been dealing with various injuries since preseason. Can Matt Ryan continue his MVP-like play against the Saints? New Orleans has started the season 0-2 and they’re desperate for a win. The New Orleans Saints usually play great at home on Monday nights and will need a great performance to beat Atlanta, which I believe they will.

New Orleans Win 37-35
