Daddy’s Hangout Presents 2016 Hell In A Cell PPV Review

2016 Hell In A Cell Poster

Welcome to the Hell in a Cell PPV, which of course is a Raw-only event. I’ll be honest, with this being PG, I never look forward to this PPV. I’ve seen some Hell in a Cell matches and they were brutal to say the least. I’ve went on to say they need to get rid of it and maybe bring back Halloween Havoc, which is an old WCW PPV. Coming into this PPV I was looking forward to the Universal Championship match and the match for the Women’s Championship. Let’s see how things turned out for this PPV.

Reigns vs. Rusev 2016 Hell In A Cell

These two have been battling for months over the United States Championship. Coming into the PPV, I felt that this could be there final encounter. Could Rusev regain the title has lost a couple months ago to Reigns? The match was really physical as expected between us these two. These two used a steel chain, steps, kendo stick and the cage throughout the match. After Reigns slammed Rusev on the steps, he connected with a spear for the win. Winner and Still United States Champ: Roman Reigns

Match Rating: 3.5/5

Bayley vs. Dana Brooke 2016 Hell In A Cell

As Charlotte and Sasha Banks have been feuding, that lead to the feud between these two. Dana Brooke has been the sidekick of Charlotte for a while now and Bayley is great friends with Banks. As far as this match, this one didn’t do anything for me, but Bayley came away with the win. Winner: Bayley

Match Rating: 2.5/5

Big Cass & Enzo vs. Gallows & Anderson 2016 Hell In A Cell

This feud started the night after Gallows & Anderson failed to capture the tag titles at the last PPV. Coming into this match, Gallows & Anderson needed the win really bad. The match didn’t really last that long as they hit Enzo with the Magic Killer for the win. Winners: Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson

Match Rating: 2.5/5

T.J. Perkins vs. Brian Kendrick 2016 Hell In A Cell

For whatever reason, the crowd just isn’t into the cruiser weights like I thought they would. This was an amazing match that told a good story, plus had really good action. Towards the end of the match it seemed like Kendrick hurt his leg. He was faking, which allowed him to head butt Perkins and lock him in his submission move for the win. Winner and New Cruiserweight Champ: Brian Kendrick

Match Rating: 3/5

Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens 2016 Hell In A Cell

This is definitely one of the matches I was looking forward to for the Universal Championship. Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins has been feuding ever since Triple H cost him the championship. While these two have been going at it, you have to sprinkle in Chris Jericho, who’s been helping Owens along the way. As far as this match, this match was physical and filled with crazy spots. Did I mention Jericho earlier? He got involved in the match as it basically turned into a handicap match. One crazy spot during the match came when Rollins powerbombed Owens from the ring into 2 tables on the outside of the ring. In the end, Rollins couldn’t hold both off as they beat him down with a chair, then powerbombed him onto 2 chairs for the win. Winner and Still Universal Champion: Kevin Owens

Match Rating: 4.25/5

New Day vs. Cesaro & Sheamus 2016 Hell In A Cell

This match was for the tag team championships as Cesaro and Sheamus try to coexist to win the titles. Coming into this match, they own a victory over the champs in a non-title match. The match was pretty entertaining as Sheamus continued to use heel tactics throughout the match. In the end, Cesaro & Sheamus WON, but it was because of a DQ when the referee saw Kodi Kingston hit Sheamus with the Trouble in Paradise after he used the trombone to attack Xavier Woods. Winners: Cesaro and Sheamus, but New Day remain the tag champs.

Match Rating: 3/5

Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte 2016 Hell In A Cell

We have the main event and after so much speculation, the ladies receive the well-deserved nod in this spot. This has probably been the best feud in the WWE ever since they been going at each other. Before the match started, Charlotte hit a powerbomb on Banks onto the announce table. She received medical attention and it seemed like the match was over, but she came back to the ring. This was a very physical match between these ladies and if you didn’t see it, make sure you do because it was really good. After a long match, Charlotte hit the Natural Selection to win the match. Winner and New Women’s Champion: Charlotte

Match Rating: 4.25/5- I bumped this up a notch because they continue to raise the bar. This was an excellent match and I know Charlotte has been receiving praise as being the best ever already, but Banks is up there also. Great match from these ladies and great way to close the PPV.

Overall Rating: 7/10- This PPV actually exceeded my expectations as it was a really good PPV. Below are my top 3 matches from the PPV.

1) Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte
1) Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins
3) Roman Reigns vs. Rusev

What did you think about the PPV? What was your favorite match of the night? Do you think the ladies delivered in the main event? Head to the comments section below and give me some feedback.
