Welcome to the 14th week of the NFL season, which means this is the start of the final quarter of the season. Last week my record was 6-4, which raised my overall record to 48-40 in the process. My overall winning percentage went from 53.8% to 54.5%. My hopes now are just to finish with a winning record instead of my original goal of 70%. This week I’ll be predicting 7 games with all of them having playoff implications. Let’s see how things turn out this weekend!!
We have the Thursday night game and you couldn’t ask for a better game. We have the Oakland Raiders visiting the Kansas City Chiefs for 1st place in the AFC West. The Oakland Raiders come into this game tied with the Patriots for home-field advantage in the AFC. Oakland is undefeated on the road as their lead by MVP-candidate Derek Carr. With a win in Kansas City, Oakland can create some distance between them and the division. Kansas City is a game behind the Raiders and they’re coming off a couple of impressive road wins in Denver and Atlanta. The Chiefs should get help in the form of a returning Jeremy Maclin as he returns from injury. This should be a battle and I believe Kansas City will beat Oakland to tie them in the division.
Kansas City Win 30-24
This game features two teams that really need wins to make a playoff push. The Pittsburgh Steelers will visit the Buffalo Bills for a Sunday afternoon game. Pittsburgh is currently enjoying a 3-game winning streak heading into this game. Coming into this game, Pittsburgh are tied for the division lead with Baltimore, whom they play on Christmas Day. Can the Steelers extend their winning streak? With a 6-6 record, Buffalo need to win out with the hopes of making the playoffs. They have the luxury of playing these next three games at home before finishing the season at the Jets. Can Tyrod Taylor turn things around and lead the Bills to the win? I’m going with the Steelers to pick up the huge win on the road.
Pittsburgh Win 29-24
We stay in the AFC with another game with playoff implications. The Denver Broncos will visit the Tennessee Titans as both teams look to make that push. Denver is coming off a dominant performance against Jacksonville. They come into this game two games behind Oakland and a game behind Kansas City in the AFC West. Denver currently leads the Wild Card race in the AFC. The Tennessee Titans come into this game in a 3-way tie in the AFC North along with Houston and Indianapolis. Can Marcus Mariota withstand the Broncos rush and pull off the upset? I’m going with the Broncos to get the win on the road.
Denver Win 26-17
Once again we stay in the AFC and this is another game for first place in the division. We have the Houston Texans visiting the Indianapolis Colts in a battle for the AFC North lead. The Texans come into this game on a 3-game losing streak. They are dealing with key injuries on both sides of the ball and ineffective play at QB. Can Houston turn around their fortunes and recapture the division lead? The Colts have won three out of their last four games to tie the Texans and Titans for first place. It seems like Andrew Luck is playing at a high level once again after his concussion. I’m going with the Colts to take care of business and begin to create distance in the division.
Indianapolis Win 31-21
We now head to the NFC as the Seattle Seahawks visit the Green Bay Packers. Seattle is coming off an impressive blowout win against Carolina last week. Unfortunately, the Seahawks lost Pro Bowl Safety Earl Thomas for the season with a broken leg. Can the Seahawks offense continue to impress in Green Bay? How will the Seattle defense respond in the absence of Thomas? Look what we have here, the Green Bay Packers have won two games in a row and seem confident now. With the secondary of Seattle missing Earl Thomas, can Rodgers have a big game against Seattle? I’m going with the Seahawks to still win on the road against Green Bay.
Seattle Win 29-28
We stay in the NFC for the Sunday night game as the Dallas Cowboys visit the New York Giants. The Cowboys are on an 11-game winning streak after losing their opening game against New York. Dallas has already wrapped up a playoff berth, but can clinch the division with a win on the road against the Giants. Can the Cowboys increase their winning streak to 12 against New York? The Giants are coming off a tough loss in Pittsburgh last week. The big news from the Giants is the loss of Jason Pierre-Paul for the remainder of the regular season due to a sports hernia. I’m going with the Giants to upset the Cowboys again on Sunday night.
New York Win 25-20
We have the Monday night game between a pair of division leaders. The Baltimore Ravens will visit the New England Patriots with playoff implications on the line. Baltimore is coming off their best game last week against Miami. Can Joe Flacco continue his great play against New England? Can the Ravens defense put enough pressure on Tom Brady to cause turnovers? The New England Patriots are still trying to cope with the loss of Rob Gronkowski and this will be a tough match-up. The Patriots will need a win to keep track with the Raiders and I think they’ll get it. ‘
New England Win 28-21
