Daddy’s Hangout Presents 2017 Elimination Chamber PPV Review

2017 Elimination Chamber

Welcome to the final PPV for Smackdown Live before WrestleMania, which is the Elimination Chamber? Three championships were defended at the PPV, which was headlined by John Cena putting his WWE title on the line. The competitors were A.J. Styles, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Miz and Baron Corbin all vying for the title inside the Elimination Chamber. Alexa Bliss put her Smackdown Women’s title on the line against Naomi. Also, American Alpha defended the Smackdown tag titles in a tag team turmoil match. We have all seen a few previews for what to expect, but let’s see what really went down.

Becky Lynch vs. MIckie James 2017 Elimination Chamber

We began the night with the returning Mickie James taking on Becky Lynch. This feud started when Becky Lynch was being attacked by a masked woman during her feud with Alexa Bliss. It turned out to be Mickie James as she returned to WWE and Smackdown Live. With both of these ladies being pretty good wrestlers this was a good choice to be the opening match seeing there were three ladies matches on the card. Becky and Mickie really battled one another during this match with both getting a good amount of offense in. They traded blows and Lynch even kicked out of James’s finisher during the match. In the end, Becky Lynch picked up the win after reversing a pin attempt by Mickie for the 3 count. Winner: Becky Lynch

Match Rating: 2.75/5- This wasn’t a bad match and figured it could go either way.

Apollo Crews & Kalisto vs. Dolph Ziggler 2017 Elimination Chamber

The second match of the night saw Dolph Ziggler take on Kalisto and Apollo Crews in a handicap match. This feud started when Ziggler attacked them out of frustration, which leads to the match. Ziggler attacked Kalisto as he appeared in the aisle and ran away as Crews came up to check on him. As far as this match, I think they could’ve booked Ziggler’s heel turn better. He’s a former world champion and was just competing for championships and Crews & Kalisto isn’t high on the totem pole. In the end, Crews and Kalisto won the match, but lost the war. Winners: Apollo Crews & Kalisto

Match Rating: 2/5- After the match, Ziggler attacked both of them with chairs

Tag Team Turmoil 2017 Elimination Chamber

This was the tag team turmoil match for the Smackdown tag titles held by American Alpha. The match started with Breezango taking on Heath Slater and Rhyno, but ended pretty quickly with Rhyno hitting the gore for the win. The Vaudevillians were the next competitors and it seemed like they were about to beat the former champs. In the end, Slater hit his finisher to pick up the win. Out next were the Usos and they hit the ring to make quick work of the former champions. American Alpha is out next and things begin to heat up with these two teams. Jason Jordan was hitting suplexes on the Usos as the crowd was clearly behind them. Chad Gable ended up rolling up Jey Uso from behind to eliminate the Usos. Afterwards, the Usos attacked the champions and then the Ascension hit the ring. It seemed like the Ascension was actually going to win something, but American Alpha hit their finisher to win the match and keep the championships. Winners and Still Smackdown Tag Champs: American Alpha

Match Rating: 3/5- The match was much better than expected.

Nikki Bella vs. Natalya 2017 Elimination Chamber

This is probably the most heated feud going on the Smackdown Live brand. We know about Nikki being attacked prior to the Survivor Series match and it turned out to be Natalya. Natalya has called out Nikki numerous times about her relationship with John Cena. They have also fought several times, which lead to this match. As far as the match, it was pretty physical and was a pretty good match with it ending in a double count-out.

Match Rating: 2.75/5

Luke Harper vs. Randy Orton 2017 Elimination Chamber

This was a battle between Luke Harper and Randy Orton, who’s been feuding as a part of the Wyatt Family. Ever since Orton became a part of the Wyatt Family, he and Harper have been at odds. We know that Randy Orton will get a championship match at WrestleMania on April 5th. If you missed this match, head to the WWE Network and watch it because it was great. Luke Harper can go and I wish they would do more with him moving forward. After going back and forth with each other, Orton hit the RKO out of nowhere for the win. Winner: Randy Orton

Match Rating: 3.75/5

Alexa Bliss vs. Naomi 2017 Elimination Chamber

This is the match-up for the Smackdown Women’s title with Alexa Bliss defending against Naomi. Coming into this match, I thought it could go either way because Bliss isn’t a bad champion and Naomi sure as hell deserves it. These two have been feuding for only a couple of weeks, which is surprising and shows they didn’t invest much into this feud. In the end, Naomi hit her finisher to beat Bliss and FINALLY capture the Women’s title. Winner and New Smackdown Women’s Champ: Naomi

Match Rating: 2.75/5

Elimination Match 2017 Elimination Chamber

This was the main event for the WWE championship inside the Elimination Chamber. The WWE debuted a new-look to the Chamber and it looked great. John Cena and A.J. Styles started the match against each other and the crowd was definitely behind them. I’m not going to go into details, but tell you the main points. Baron Corbin was the first to be eliminated when Ambrose rolled him up. Afterwards, Corbin beat the hell out of Ambrose and finished it with the End of Days. Miz escaped his pod to pin Dean Ambrose. Miz hit YES! kicks on everyone in the match mocking Daniel Bryan. After Miz hit the Skull Crushing Finale on Bray, he went for a diving cross body, but was caught by Cena. Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment on the Miz to eliminate him. We are left with John Cena and A.J. Styles, who started the match and Bray Wyatt. They all battled each other for a while and Bray hit Sister Abigail out of nowhere on Cena and pinned him. It came down to Styles and Wyatt as the crowd was going crazy for them. They both came close a couple of times to winning the match, but they continued. The end came when Styles went for the Phenomenal Forearm, but Wyatt caught him and hit the Sister Abigail for the win. Winner and New WWE Champ: Bray Wyatt

Match Rating: 4/5- Great match! Will we see Bray Wyatt take on Randy Orton for the WWE championship at WrestleMania? Could Baron Corbin attacking Dean Ambrose be the start of a feud going into WrestleMania? Could the Usos challenge American Alpha at WrestleMania?

Overall Rating: 6.75/10- This was a pretty good PPV with a couple of above average matches. I’m happy to see Naomi and Bray Wyatt finally winning championship gold, which is long overdue.
