To say my mornings are hectic is definitely an understatement. First off, if you don’t know by now, I’m a night-shift worker, yeah the graveyard shift. In the mornings, I get home around 7:25, and I take my youngest daughter to school around 8:40. Between that time, normally I spend about 10-15 minutes with her as she starts to get ready for school. Usually, that leaves me an hour to catch up on some blogging work that needs to be done. Since I eat something like a small salad, yogurt or a protein shake for lunch at work, I’m hungry when I get off. Luckily, RaceTrac is less than 5 minutes from work, so you’ll catch me there a few times a week. Most of the times it doesn’t take much to fill me up, but my breakfast selection may be much different from yours. Here they are:
Any of Their Wraps
My daughter takes her lunch every day to school, but on Fridays, I tend to get her one of the wraps. I’ll have to slice it in half for her because she can’t eat the entire thing at school. Since it’s on a Friday that means we just share it as I’ll eat the other half for breakfast that morning. Our favorites have to be the turkey club, BBQ chicken and the chipotle wrap, trust me; you’ll love them.
Hot Chocolate, Coffee or Cappuccino
As crazy as it sounds, I’ve drunk hot chocolate, coffee or cappuccino for breakfast in the mornings. Sometimes I take a nice size salad to work and when I get off still feeling the effects of that salad. Additionally, when I’ve had a long, tiring night they give me that extra boost to get home to stay awake to about 9 or 9:30. Either way, they’re really good, and if I get one that means my daughter wants daddy to bring her a hot chocolate on those cold mornings also.
Candy Bars
Most of the time when I’m grabbing the cappuccino or hot chocolate, I’m getting a candy bar to go with it. Of course, the candy bar is gone before I get home because I stay 20 minutes from my job. With so many to choose from at RaceTrac, I tend to play some sort of elimination game or something to decide what I want. My favorites are Snickers, Kit Kat, Reese’s, Twix, M&Ms and Hershey’s. As you can see, this is one difficult decision I have to make, but hey somebody’s got to do it lol.
Hot Dogs
At first, I’ll admit that I was a little skeptical about eating hot dogs in the mornings. One morning I met another person who was at this moment getting off work and said those are the best hot dogs you’ll ever eat. After that kind of endorsement I couldn’t just walk away nor could I? Of course not, so I grabbed two of them, and he was right because they were great. The only sad part about it is that I haven’t run into him again to tell him thank you for convincing me to try them. Actually, according to RaceTrac sales data, those Nathan Hot Dogs are their biggest seller between 6 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Those are my four of the items I love to pick up for myself for breakfast in the mornings. As you can see, you don’t have to get the traditional biscuits for breakfast.
