Daddy’s Hangout 2017 Money in the Bank PPV Review

Money in the Bank PPV Review

Welcome to one of my favorite PPVs of the year and that’s Money in the Bank. As we all know, we had the first-ever ladies Money in the Bank ladder match. Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Natalya and Tamina are competed to become the first Mrs. Money in the Bank. A.J. Styles, Kevin Owens, Shinsuke Nakamura, Baron Corbin, Sami Zayn and Dolph Ziggler competed in the Men’s ladder match. We also had Jinder Mahal defending the WWE title against former champ, Randy Orton. The Usos also defended their SmackDown tag team championships against New Day. Also, Naomi defended her Women’s title against Lana in her debut match. Let’s see how many of my predictions I got right from my other website.

Money in the Bank PPV Review

We started the article evening with the historic Women’s MITB. We had Charlotte, Tamina, Becky Lynch, Carmella and Natalya vying to be the first Mrs. Money in the Bank. As far as the match, all the ladies did their thing as they fought all over the place. During the match, Charlotte hit her signature moonsault on Tamina and Natalya. In the end, Becky Lynch was poised to get the briefcase after powerbombing Carmella. James Ellsworth climbed the ladder to retrieve the briefcase and tossed it to Carmella for the win. Winner and Mrs. Money in the Bank: Carmella

Match Rating: 3.25/5- This wasn’t a great MITB ladder match, but it’s the first one so the expectations weren’t that high. Loved the decision to have Carmella winning the briefcase as this builds her up and I think it’ll be a fun storyline moving forward.

This was a match for the SmackDown Live tag titles as the Usos defended their belts against New Day. This is really a battle between arguably the two best tag teams in the WWE. The build for this match was good with both teams bringing their with the promos. The match wasn’t that bad as they have great chemistry with each other. In the end, New Day hit the Midnight Hour, but Jey pulls Jimmy out to break up the pin. They grab their titles and leaving forcing a countout. Winners by Countout: New Day

Match Rating: 3/5- The Usos kept the belts and I kind of expected this type of finish. I predicted this feud could last a few months and I think New Day will eventually capture the titles.

We have Naomi defending her SmackDown Women’s title against Lana in her first match. Coming into this match, we didn’t know what to expect from the Ravishing Russian. This match was made a couple weeks ago when Lana made her SmackDown debut. Since then, she’s cost Naomi a match and attacked also. This match wasn’t anything spectacular, but I must say that Lana can wrestle. In the end, Naomi made her tap in a modified Rings of Saturn. Winner and Still SmackDown Women’s Champ: Naomi

Match Rating: 2/5

We had the WWE championship match as Jinder Mahal defended the title against Randy Orton. As we all know, Mahal shocked the world by beating Orton for the title last month. Once again, this match saw the Singh Brothers get involved. One time Orton hit the RKO in Mahal and was about the recapture the title, but the Singh Brothers put Mahal’s foot on the rope. The referee tossed them from ringside and as they were leaving they went at Bob Orton. Randy Orton beat the hell out of them. Orton hits the ring and was met with a kick to the knee. Mahal then hit his finisher to pick up the win. Winner and Still WWE Champion: Jinder Mahal

Match Rating: 3.25/5

The main event of the night was the MITB Ladder Match featuring the guys. Coming into this match I had some very high expectations because all 6 of them brought something different into this match. This match was freaking awesome and it featured some great moments. Some of the highlights were AJ Styles hitting an AA on Kevin Owens, bouncing him off the ladder placed outside of the ring. AJ Styles hanging from the rope, trying to push himself up and grab the briefcase, but having a crazy spill to the mat. Sami Zayn tossed Owens into a ladder from the top rope and his over the top powerbomb onto Dolph Ziggler. The highlight had to be Shinsuke Nakamura cleaning house towards the end of the match, which lead to a faceoff with A.J. Styles. The crowd ate it up as they battled and eventually fought on top of the ladder before Baron Corbin tossed both. In the end, Baron Corbin climbed the ladder to retrieve the briefcase to win the match. Winner and Mr. Money in the Bank: Baron Corbin

Match Rating: 4.25/5- AWESOME match and this was the right call by having Corbin capture the briefcase.
