Welcome to Week 7 of the college football season as we are now in the middle of October. Last week, we saw a shocker in Oklahoma as Iowa State pulled off the upset over the Sooners. Of course, that shook up the college football playoffs, but last night Syracuse shocked the world by beating Clemson. If that wasn’t enough, 7th ranked Washington State fell to California to shake things up even more. Last week, my record was 4-2 and it makes my overall record to 18-9. My winning percentage remains at 66.7% and of course I’m hoping to reach the 70% mark. This week I’ll only be predicting 3 games as this week doesn’t have those major games scheduled. As we have seen the last two weeks, anything can happen and everyone is on upset alert. Let’s Get Started!!!
We start things off with the Red River Rivalry as the Oklahoma Sooners face their rival Texas Longhorns. As mentioned before, Oklahoma is coming off a crushing defeat at the hands of Iowa State. Baker Mayfield is 1-2 against Texas as he’s due for a major rebound game. Can the Sooner defense rebound and play like they’re one of the dominant defenses in the country? Will Baker Mayfield and the Sooner offense turn up the heat on the Texas defense? The Longhorns have won a pair of games in a row after losing two of their first three games. Can Texas do enough on both sides of the ball to pull off the upset over their rivals? I’m going with Oklahoma to avenge their loss from a week ago and creep back in the playoff picture.
Oklahoma Win 31-21
We head to the SEC as the 10th ranked Auburn Tigers visit the LSU Tigers. We all know that Auburn got one of the better defenses in the country, but the offense is making headlines for them lately. Auburn has averaged 48 points a game in their first three SEC games. The defense is giving up a little less than 16 points in those games. It seems like Auburn is flying under everyone’s radar, but if they win out, will they make the playoffs? After one of their most embarrassing losses, LSU went to Gainesville last week and beat the Florida Gators. This rivalry against over the years have produced some hard-hitting games. Can LSU pull off another upset? This is a tough one as I think Auburn escapes with the win on the road.
Auburn Win 23-22
We head out west to the Pac-12 as the Utah Utes visit the 13th ranked USC Trojans for control of the Pac-12 South. Utah suffered their first loss last week against Stanford after winning their first four games. Over the years, Utah has become one of the more physical teams in the country. Despite being a heavy underdog, I wouldn’t rule out Utah as they boast a nice defense that will get after Sam Darnold. USC rebounded nicely last week against Oregon State a week after losing to Washington State. The Trojans looked like the team that many pegged as one of the favorites to make the playoffs. Will they continue to play like they’re capable of? I’m going with USC to win at home against Utah.
USC Win 34-21
