Welcome to Week 9 of the college football season and it’s the final weekend of October. That means we’re getting closer towards the end of the year and my favorite, time change. This weekend will feature great games and we’ll have a better vision of who could make a playoff push. We start with the 2nd ranked Penn State Nittany Lions traveling to the 6th ranked Ohio State Buckeyes for control of the Big 10. Last week I finished with a 2-0 record and my overall record jumps to 22-10. My winning percentage was raised from 66.7 to 68.8%. This week I’ll be predicting a total of five games with the hopes of getting closer to my 70% winning percentage goal. Let’s Get Started!!
We head to the Big-10 conference as the 2nd ranked Penn State Nittany Lions travel to face the 6th ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. Penn State is coming off an impressive win at home against the Michigan Wolverines last week. Saquon Barkley is everyone’s favorite in the Heisman race so far and with another incredible performance he could all, but clinch it. If Penn State were to win this game, they have an inside track for a playoff berth. Ohio State could avenge their early season loss with a win over the Nittany Lions. J.T. Barrett has played great the past five games, but he’s had issues in big games. Can the Buckeyes beat the undefeated Nittany Lions and gain inside track to the East division title? This is a tough one, but I think Ohio State pulls it out.
Ohio State Win 23-21
We head to the Golden Dome as the 9th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish hosts the 14th ranked N.C. State Wolfpack. I’ve mentioned before, Notre Dame has flown under the radar as they’ve only loss by one point to the 3rd ranked Georgia Bulldogs. If you didn’t believe in the Fighting Irish before, last week they beat the hell out of the USC Trojans as the defense made them look bad. Can they continue their dominance this week over the Wolfpack? Bradley Chubb for the Wolfpack has been one of best defensive players in the country and he can take a game over. This should be a tough game, but I’m on that Fighting Irish train and think they’ll take care of business.
Notre Dame Wins 31-21
This is another match-up between ranked teams take place in the Big-12 Conference. The 4th ranked TCU Horned Frogs travel to the 25th ranked Iowa State Cyclones. The Horned Frogs have been on the verge of reaching that top tier team for a few years now. Can Kenny Hill continue his great season and lead the Horned Frogs to this road win to further their claim they belong in the playoffs? Iowa State come into their 5th game of the season with a 2-2 record and their season was changed. The Cyclones went to Oklahoma and beat the then-3rd ranked team in the country. They have won three games in a row and that includes a win over Texas Tech. I’m riding with the Horned Frogs in this one as they continue their undefeated season.
TCU Wins 26-24
We stay in the Big-12 Conference as the 11th ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys visits the 22nd ranked West Virginia Mountaineers. Mason Rudolph and the Oklahoma State Cowboys still have hopes of winning the conference title. If they could win out, they could be one of the four teams that make the playoffs. They enter their tough stretch of the schedule because after they face West Virginia they face Oklahoma and Iowa State. West Virginia has always had one of the most explosive offenses in the country and this is no different. Despite losing their first game at home to Virginia Tech, the Mountaineers are usually tough when defending their turf. In the end, I’m riding with the Cowboys to slip away with the win.
Oklahoma State Win 31-30
We head to Jacksonville for the biggest tailgate party in the world. The 3rd ranked Georgia Bulldogs battle their rival Florida Gators in a key SEC match-up. Georgia has been one of the better teams in the country this season as they have bought in to Kirby Smart. Despite having a true Freshman at QB, the running game is making his transaction much more comfortably. With Georgia throwing out as many as 4 RBs, can they break down this tough Gator defense? Florida has dropped two games in a row by a total of 3 points and it has been reported that the coaching staff plus the players have received death threats. This should be a close game, but Georgia pulls away in the end.
Georgia Win 30-20
