Welcome to Week 12 of the NFL season as some teams are starting to separate themselves from the pack. In the NFC, we have the Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings fighting for the top two spots. The Los Angeles Rams and Carolina Panthers are in the next tier of teams while three others fight for the final Wild Card spot. In the AFC, the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers sit atop of the conference as they face each other on Dec. 17th. The Jacksonville Jaguars are only a game behind the Patriots and Steelers for best record in the conference and with their feisty defense to go with the cold weather, look out for them. My record last week was 2-2, which lowered my record to 42-33 and my winning percentage dipped from 56.3 to 56%. I’ll be predicting six games this week! Let’s Get Started!!!
We kick things off with the first of three Thanksgiving games. The NFC North leading Minnesota Vikings travel to Detroit to face the Lions, who’s two games behind the Vikings. Ever since Teddy Bridgewater was activated, many believed he would be thrusted back into the starting position. Case Keenum has played great and the Vikings are currently riding a 6-game winning streak. Trust me, a lot of that goes to the defense, but Keenum has played efficient ball during his time. Detroit have won three games in a row after dropping their previous three. The Lions are currently tied for the final Wild Card spot with the Falcons and Seahawks, in which Atlanta holds the tie-breaker. With them needing a big win to help their playoff chances I’m riding with the Lions to win in a close one.
Detroit Win 27-24
The second game on Thanksgiving will take place in Dallas as they host the Los Angeles Chargers. Ever since Ezekiel Elliott got suspended, Dallas has dropped both games by a combined 64-16 at the hands of Atlanta and Philadelphia. With Sean Lee still out, they hope to get Tyron Smith for this game to help protect Dak Prescott. Dallas still have playoffs admirations seeing their only one game out of the Wild Card. Can they end their losing streak? The Los Angeles Chargers, despite having a 4-6 record still have an outside shot to win the AFC West. They’re coming off a beatdown of Buffalo, but I think Dallas will rebound and pick up the win.
Dallas Win 31-21
The third and final game on Thanksgiving will be a NFC East match-up. The Washington Redskins host the New York Giants is the night game. New York is coming off a surprising win against the Kansas City Chiefs last week in OT. When it seems like the Giants were about to give up and cash in their season, they came will a great defensive performance. Can the Giants make it two wins in a row and only trail the Redskins by a game? The Washington Redskins are coming off a tough loss in New Orleans when it seems like they had the game in hand. Washington is still in the hunt for a playoff spot, but they will need to win out and look for help. I’m going with the Redskins to walk away with the win.
Washington Win 20-17
We have a battle between two of the top teams in the NFC as the New Orleans Saints travel to Los Angeles to face the Rams. New Orleans is riding an 8-game winning streak after they pulled off a come from behind win over Washington. They currently rank 2nd in passing and 3rd points scored plus rushing this season. The biggest improvement of this Saints team in their defense thanks to their young guys. Can the Saints make it 9 in a row? The Los Angeles Rams just had their 4-game winning streak come to an end against the Minnesota Vikings. This is the part of their schedule that will tell if they’re a legit contender or not as they have tough competition. This will be a tough game, but I think the Rams will end the Saints winning streak.
Los Angeles Win 34-31
We have the Sunday night game between two storied franchises as the Pittsburgh Steelers hosts the Green Bay Packers. Green Bay have lost four of five games headed into this one as they’re still without Aaron Rodgers. I’ll be honest, I wanted Brett Hundley to succeed as their QB and prove he could be a starter in this league. Unfortunately, it’s not looking like it as he continues to struggle, and the offense is averaging over 14 points since he’s been the starter. Pittsburgh is coming off scoring 40 points against the Titans, but Coach Mike Tomlin think they can do more. Can the Steelers offense continue to put up those points with the defense coming around? I’m thinking they will and should walk away with the win over the Packers.
Pittsburgh Win 34-20
This is the Monday night game as the Houston Texans visit the Baltimore Ravens. Houston is still trying to figure things out since they lost Deshaun Watson for the season. They ended their 3-game losing streak last week when they beat Arizona. The injury bug continued to bite them when rookie RB D’Onta Freeman went down with an Achilles injury. Can the Texans make it two in a row win a win over Baltimore on the road? Baltimore have been the definition of an up-and-down team because one week their struggling and they look good the next. The defense has pitched a shutout two of the last three weeks, can they continue to play great? I’m going with the Ravens to find a way to beat Houston and remain in the playoff hunt.
Baltimore Win 23-17
