The time has finally come and that is Super Bowl 52. On one side, we have the Dynasty that will go down as one of the best franchises ever. The New England Patriots are once again in another Super Bowl and they’re trying to get their 6th Super Bowl title. If they were to win Sunday, they will tie the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Super Bowl championships. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick will probably go down as the GOAT QB and Coach ever. With the Philadelphia Eagles, they weren’t supposed to be here let everyone tell it. After Carson Wentz went down with his knee injury, Philadelphia was written off. In addition to the Wentz injury, Philadelphia have had plenty of guys go down to injuries. They were underdogs against the Atlanta Falcons and Minnesota Vikings and they’ll be underdogs against the Patriots.
Tom Brady is expected by many to take home his 3rd NFL MVP. Whenever he’s under center, New England will immediately be a threat on offense. With Rob Gronkowski being cleared from concussion protocol, Brady will have his main weapon for the Super Bowl. Danny Amendola has had a fantastic post-season and the RB core for the Patriots are always threats. Nick Foles has looked like the MVP candidate QB he was back in 2013. The run-pass option Doug Pederson is using has been phenomenal for Foles and the Eagles offense. Jay Ajayi and LeGarrette Blount has been great out of the backfield. The WR core has made great plays do the play of Foles. Anytime you have Tom Brady as your QB that will automatically give you the advantage. Advantage: New England
The New England Patriots defense finished the season with one of the best in the league. They continued their dominance in both of their post-season games. They have totaled 11 sacks by 8 different guys in the last two games. Earlier in the season, that wasn’t the case as the Patriots was ranked towards the bottom of the league in defense. The defense improved over time and by adding James Harrison it made them much better. With the Philadelphia Eagles, the defense has been one of the best throughout the year. Towards the end of the season, the Eagles defense went a couple of games where they didn’t look great. In the two post-season games, they held two really good offenses to combined 17 points. When it comes to overall defense, I’ll give the edge to the Eagles despite the secondary being a red flag. Advantage: Philadelphia
New England has been on this stage so many times in the last couple of decades. When it comes to game planning, you can’t get any better than Bill Belichick. Tom Brady is looking to add to his legacy as the GOAT QB, but now he may try to reach GOAT player. On the defensive side of the ball, James Harrison has been money for the Patriots as he continues his quest for another title. Philadelphia has been on a roll, but those games were at home with the crowd clearly behind them. In those previous two games, their secondary never got exposed as Brady will target them. The key to the game will be the ability of the defense to get pressure on Tom Brady. Will the Patriots defense pressure Foles and the offense? This is tough, but I’m going with New England.
New England Win 24-23
