After my prediction for the first semifinal game, the Orange Bowl it’s time for the other one. The Clemson Tigers will battle the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to see who advances to the Championship game. The Clemson Tigers finished the season undefeated and won the ACC Championship after dismantling the Pittsburgh Panthers. During the season,they were met with controversy after benching Kelly Bryant for Taylor Lawrence. Travis Etienne have emerged as one of the better RBs in the country and we know Clemson keep WRs. On the defensive side of the ball, Clemson is as good as it gets especially with their front 4. The Tigers can rush the QB, stop the run and at times they’ve been really intimidating. The Tigers will need to force some turnovers in this game because the Fighting Irish are great taking care of the ball.
With Notre Dame, their defense is just as stingy as the Tigers. While they don’t have the big name guys, they can put the clamps down opposing offenses. Notre Dame had their moments where they appeared to be the best team in the country. Then we had the Fighting Irish team that smothered opposing teams and just dominated them. When it comes to this game against Clemson, the Fighting Irish will have issues slowing down the offense. Notre Dame haven’t faced a team with so much speed and talent like they will with Clemson. As far as the offense going against Notre Dame, the Irish will put pressure on Lawrence throughout the game. The Tigers are favored to beat the Fighting Irish and head to the anticipated match-up against Alabama. This game should be very physical,and Travis Etienne will be the major factor for the Tigers in the win.
