We have arrived at the Final Four. Did anyone have Michigan State, Virginia, Auburn and Texas Tech in their Final Four? Of course you didn’t, but in my original bracket I had Michigan State winning the championship. My ESPN bracket had Michigan State and Virginia in the title game with the Spartans winning. Michigan State will battle Texas Tech in one game. In the other game, Virginia will battle the Auburn Tigers. This past weekend, we saw some great basketball. Michigan State blew out LSU and edged Duke to reach this point. Texas Tech pummeled Michigan and beat Gonzaga to advance to their first Final Four. Auburn ran past North Carolina and beat SEC-foe, Kentucky to reach their first Final Four. Virginia escaped Oregon and beat Purdue in a classic to reach the Final Four a year after losing to a 16th seed as a top seed.
In the first game, we have the Virginia Cavaliers taking on the Auburn Tigers. Virginia is one of the better defensive teams in the country. In their game against Purdue, Virginia showed they have a few guys that could shoot. They held the #1 ranking on a couple separate occasions throughout the season. During the regular season, they lost only three games with two of those were against Duke. Can Virginia slow down the speedy Tigers? When Chuma Okeke tore his ACL, many thought Auburn couldn’t beat Kentucky. Harper and Brown have looked like one of the better backcourts in the nation throughout the tournament. Can the emotion that Auburn played with carry over to the Final Four? Will the speed of the Tigers help pull off another upset? In the end, the Virginia defense will be too tough, and they should win the game.

In the second game, we have the Michigan State Spartans battling the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Michigan State used their veteran presence to make it to this point. The Spartans has been my pick to cut down the nets at the end of the tournament. After blowing by LSU in the Sweet 16, the Spartans closed out the deal in a classic over the Duke Blue Devils. Can this veteran lead team continue their success into the championship game? In a surprise to many, Texas Tech held Michigan to 44 points on their way to routing the Wolverines. In the regional championship, the Red Raiders beat the top seed Gonzaga in a nail biter. This will be a defensive game between two really good teams. Can the Red Raiders pull off another upset? Can the Spartans continue their run at the title? I’m sticking with the Spartans to march on.
