Coming into this series, the Celtics were my pick to beat the Bucks. My thinking was that the Celtics would win the series in maybe 6 games. Brad Stevens is one of the better coaches in the league and he showed it in Game 1. Boston didn’t allow Giannis to have space to create his offense like the Pistons did. Coming into the game, I thought the Celtics would put Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown on Giannis. Instead, Coach Stevens put Al Horford on Giannis and it paid off. Horford frustrated Antetokounmpo throughout the game and had four blocks on the MVP candidate. The one monster block on the Greek Freak pretty much showed the effect Horford had on the game. Giannis finished the game with 22 points, 8 rebounds and just two assists.
Giannis ended the game 7-for-21 from the field and he just couldn’t get things going. Al Horford finished the game with 20 points and 11 rebounds plus he had another four blocks. Horford showed why he was so important to this Celtics team. Kyrie Irving lead the team with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists. In addition to Horford and Irving being in double figures, three other Celtics also scored in double digits. Jaylen Brown had 19, Gordon Hayward finished with 13 and Terry Rozier scored 11. Khris Middleton and Nikola Mirotic were the only other Bucks players finished in double figures besides Giannis. Eric Bledsoe had a bad game as he finished with 6 points and 4 assists.
Brooke Lopez was nonexistent also as he finished with 3 points and 3 rebounds. With Game 2 being Tuesday night, will Coach Bud and the Bucks make the proper adjustments to tie the series up. For Milwaukee, Game 2 is a must win with the next two games being held in Boston. Sterling Brown left the game with tightness in his back and Malcolm Brogden isn’t expected back until possibly Game 3. Aron Baynes Of Boston also left the game as he sprained his ankle. Marcus Smart isn’t expected back either as both teams have key players in the sideline. Can the Bucks bounce back and tie the series on Tuesday night? Will the Celtics continue their dominance from Game 1 on Tuesday night? Who will walk away Tuesday night with the win? See the Celtics blow out Bucks in Game 1 on road.
