Venni Vetti Vecci from Ja Rule was released 20 years ago today. In 1995, Ja Rule was one of the first artists to be featuring on Mic Geronimo’s “Time to Build”. He then formed a group named “Cash Money Click” with his friends. The group then signed a deal to TVT Records. Under their association to TVT Records, the group has recorded two of their albums, releasing one single, before they’re been dropped from the label. In 1998, Ja Rule hit the mainstream on Can I Get A from Jay-Z. The following year, Ja Rule released Venni Vetti Vecci and it was well-received. Holla Holla was the only single released for the album a few months before it dropped. Venni Vetti Vecci went on to sell over two million records and made Ja Rule an instant star. Ja Rule was compared to 2Pac and DMX when he came out.

Venni Vetti Vecci was a dope album that had plenty of bangers on it. It’s crazy that most fans remember Ja Rule for his beef with 50 Cent. With so many people siding with 50, many seem to discredit Ja Rule and his contribution to hip hop. After this album, Ja Rule mastered crossing over and combining his sound with R&B. We Here Now, World’s Most Dangerous, Nigguz Theme, Suicide Freestyle, It’s Murda, E-Dub & Ja, Daddy’s Little Girl and Race Against Time. Those tracks mentioned are some of my favorites with E-Dub & Ja being one of my all-time favorites. Overall this is a classic in my eyes and should be in your collection.
