After taking a week hiatus, it’s time for my college Football Predictions to return. Coming into the 2019 Week 4 college football weekend my record is 5-2. The winning percentage is above the 70% goal at 71.4%. Despite not having major games last week, there were some great games played. Florida escapes Kentucky with a last minute win despite losing their quarterback for the season. Penn State edged their rival, Pittsburgh in a close one. Arizona State made the cross country trip to Michigan State and pulled off the upset in a defensive battle. In another close rival game, Iowa barely beat Iowa State 18-17. Maryland has their high powered offense slowed down on the road against Temple. Hopefully, this week will bring more close games seeing we have quite a few major matchups. We will be predicting six games in the 2019 Week 4 college football season.
We’ll kick things off with the only match-up featuring top-10 teams. The 7th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish travels to Athens to face the 3rd ranked Georgia Bulldogs. If you’re in the area this weekend, ESPN Gameday will be there and Champ Bailey’s Hosting a tailgate party. The Fighting Irish are looking to make a statement to the world on Saturday night. Since Georgia is a title contender, if the Irish were to win this will propel them in the eyes of the committee. For Georgia, if they were to win this would definitely help with any tiebreaker issues. The SEC have caught a lot of flak for not facing major out of conference opponents. Can the Young receiving code step up and help Jake Fromm in this huge game? With this being a home game for Georgia, I’m riding with the Bulldogs.
Georgia Win 31-24
We head to the Big Ten Conference for this top-15 battle. The 11th ranked Michigan Wolverines head to Wisconsin to battle the 13th ranked Badgers. Michigan is coming off a nail biting win at home over Army. The offense of the Wolverines has struggled in the first pair of games. The defense has a long way to go to reach last year’s squad. We all know the goal for Michigan is to be undefeated when they face Ohio State at the end of the year. Can the Wolverines upset the Badgers on the road? Wisconsin haven’t faced much competition as they have blanked both of their opponents. Jonathon Taylor is looking to establish himself as the best running back in the country. If Taylor can have a great game against Michigan, the Heisman talk will begin for him. This is a tough one, but I’m rolling with the Badgers in this one.
Wisconsin Win 24-21
We head down south for this SEC West match-up between two top-20 squads. The 8th ranked Auburn Tigers will travel to Texas and face the 17th ranked Texas A&M Aggies. Auburn and Bo Nix impressed the country with their opening win over Oregon. The Tigers defense is one of the best in the country. This game is huge seeing that LSU and Alabama are also in the SEC West. Can Bo Nix go on the road again and lead Auburn to the victory? Texas A&M have blowed our two underwhelming opponents. The Aggies have loss one game and it was to the defending champion Clemson Tigers. In that game, the Aggies defense held the reigning champs to only 24 points. This should be a defensive struggle and, in the end, I’m doing with the Aggies to win.
Texas A&M Win 20-17
This is one of two Friday night games we’re predicting this week. The 10th ranked Utah Utes travel to Los Angeles to face the USC Trojans. The Utes are looking for a signature win even if it’s against a team they should beat. If Utah were to beat a school like USC, it could go a long way in recruiting and credibility. Utah is hoping to go into next weekend’s game at home against the ranked Washington State Cougars. With Reggie Bush returning to USC to call the game, will Utah withstand the momentum and beat the Trojans? USC is coming off a heartbreaking loss on the road to BYU. This is the beginning of a tough run for the Trojans. They have the Washington Huskies and Notre Dame after their bye week. Can the Trojans pull off the upset on Friday night? I’m riding with the Trojans to upset the Utes at home.
USC Win 38-28
We have the other game that’ll be played on Friday night. The Air Force Falcons will travel to Boise to face the 20th ranked Broncos. The Air Force comes into this game undefeated after upsetting Colorado. The win over Colorado happened on the road as the Falcons defense looked good. Can the Air Force Academy pull off another upset against a ranked team this time? Boise State opened the season by winning a tough one against the Florida State Seminoles. Can the Boise State Broncos continue to rebut their program? I’m rolling with the Broncos and their blue field to win this on Friday night.
Boise State Win 30-20
We head down to the Big 12 conference for this huge, early season match-up. The Oklahoma State Cowboys will travel to Texas to face the 12th ranked Longhorns. The Cowboys come into this game undefeated and looking to make their mark. As always, the Oklahoma State offense is one of the more explosive ones in the country. Oklahoma State can score a lot of points, but they also give up plenty. They’re averaging almost 50 points a game, but they’ve given up almost 24 against lesser talent. Texas have also shown they can score a lot of points. In their loss to LSU, they still scored 38 points. With the being a conference game, this is important as Texas is looking to be undefeated before the Oklahoma game. Texas is trending in the right direction and I think they’ll beat the Cowboys.
Texas Win 41-31
