Welcome to Week 4 of this NFL season. My record from last week was 4-4. My overall record now is 15-10 and my winning percentage dips from 64.7 to 60%. My goal is still to be at the 70% mark so there needs to be a quick turnaround. The week started with me finally correctly guessing the Thursday night game. Jacksonville upended their division rival from Tennessee and Jalen Ramsey still want to be traded. The Sunday night game saw Los Angeles make the cross country trip to Cleveland and handle the Browns. The Chicago Bears showed why they may have the league’s best defense by dominating the Redskins. The Browns and the Eagles are two of the more disappointing teams in the league thus far. On the flip side, the Buffalo Bills are 3-0 as they face the undefeated New England Patriots. This week we’ll be predicting seven games with the hopes of turning things around.
We start things off with the Thursday night game in Green Bay as the Packers host the Philadelphia Eagles. At the beginning of the season, this was looked at as a potential playoff matchup. The Packers have jumped out to a 3-0 record and the Eagles come in with a 1-2 record. The Eagles have been decimated on both sides of the ball. Alshon Jeffrey should make his return from a calf injury to help out the offense. Can the defense get pressure on Rodgers? When you think about the Packers, Aaron Rodgers always come to mind. This Green Bay team has been highlighted by one of the better defenses in the league. Can the Packers defense dominate this Eagles squad? Will Rodgers light up the suspect Eagles secondary? I’m thinking the Packers will barely hold off the Eagles.
Green Bay Win 31-21
Raise your hand if you had both of these teams being undefeated for this game? The New England Patriots travel to Buffalo to face their undefeated division rival. The Patriots look like they could make another run at the Super Bowl. Will the Patriots show any effects of the aftermath of the Antonio Brown situation? In a battle of great defenses, which one will prove to be the best? Buffalo is one of the more surprising teams in the league. The offense has done enough, but the defense is the talk of the town. The Bills have one of the stingiest defenses that create turnovers for opposing offenses. Will the Bills be able to get pressure on Tom Brady? How will they fare against the explosive and disciplined Patriots offense? It’s hard to pick against the Patriots and I’m not in this one.
New England Win 24-14
We have another game between two teams that haven’t lost a game. The Kansas City Chiefs travel to Motown to face the Detroit Lions. We already know all about the Chiefs and their defending league MVP Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs are coming off an impressive and hard fought win over Baltimore. The Chiefs defense is still an Achilles for this team and the Lions could score a lot on them. With Mahomes and the weapons around him, it’s hard to compete and outscored them. Can they continue their winning ways in Detroit? The Lions come into this game with a 2-0-1 record. They went to Philadelphia last week and beat the Eagles. The defense has been a surprise and Stafford has been utilizing the weapons on offense. Who walks out of Detroit with the win? I’m going with Kansas City in a close one.
Kansas City Win 34-24
This is a battle between the two teams many people think will decide the NFC North. The Cleveland Browns travel to Baltimore to face the Ravens. The Browns are coming off a disappointing Sunday night loss at home against the Rams. With all the moves the Browns made during the off-season, many thought they would be contending in the AFC. Baker Mayfield is facing a lot of doubts, especially after criticizing the Giants organization for drafting Daniel Jones. Can the Browns go to Baltimore and beat the Ravens? Baltimore is coming off their first loss of the season in Kansas City. Despite the loss, Baltimore is still one of the best teams in the league. Lamar Jackson have surprised many people and Mark Ingram is looking like a steal for the Ravens. The defense done a decent job against Patrick Mahomes on the road. How will they fare against the Browns offense? This should be a hard hitting game and I’m rolling with the Ravens to edge the Browns.
Baltimore Win 24-21
We have a battle between two playoff contenders in the same division. The Minnesota Vikings head to Soldier Field to face the Chicago Bears. The Vikings offense is hitting their stride with a nice passing and running game. Dalvin Cook have come back better than ever. Cook have started the season with three consecutive 100-yard games on the ground. Kirk Cousins has been efficient, and the defense is one of the better ones in the league. After struggling the first two games, Mitchell Trubisky came alive against the Redskins Monday night. The Bears defense was as dominant as you’ll see a defense against the Redskins. Can Khalil Mack pressure Cousins and contain Cook? This is a hard one, but I’ll go with the Vikings on the road.
Minnesota Win 20-17
This is the Sunday night game between two Super Bowl contenders from the NFC. The undefeated Dallas Cowboys travel to New Orleans to battle the Saints. The Cowboys have looked great in their first three games. The question is, are the Cowboys that good or the opponents that bad? The Cowboys first three games were against the Giants, Redskins and the Dolphins. Dak Prescott have looked like a quarterback that wants to get paid. The defense has dominated all three opponents. New Orleans is coming off an impressive win on the road against the Seahawks. Teddy Bridgewater played well, and the defense were the stars. The Saints defense were all over the place and even scored a pair of touchdowns. Can Bridgewater play a better game against the Cowboys defense? How will the Saints defense fair against the Dallas offense? I’m going with the Cowboys to leave the Sunday night game with a road win.
Dallas Win 27-24
We have the final game of the week and of course it’s the Monday night game. The Cincinnati Bengals travel to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers in an NFC North battle. The Bengals are looking for their first win of the season. Cincinnati have looked bad and their record speaks for itself. They have lost two games on the road by a combined four points. The Seahawks barely beat this Bengals team in Seattle, which is one of the toughest places to play. The Bengals had a chance to beat the Bills, but the Bills beat them in the end. Pittsburgh haven’t won a game neither coming into this game. The Steelers have lost to the Patriots, Seahawks and 49ers, whom all have a combined 8-1 record. Will the Steelers put together an entire game of great play. I’m thinking the Steelers will put it all together and leave with the win.
Pittsburgh Win 31-20
