Hip hop was definitely represented on this very day. Talib Kweli’s The Beautiful Struggle and Blackout from Method Man and Redman dropped on this day. Blackout dropped 20 years ago and Talib Kweli released his second solo album the same time as Ciara. Ciara released the title track as her first single a few months before the album dropped. Goodies was well-received, and it featured Petey Pablo. Goodies went on to become the #1 song in the country and the single went platinum. With the single being such a success, people anticipated the album from Ciara. Two months after releasing Goodies as the first single, Ciara released another track. 1,2 Step was the name and it featured Missy Elliott. 1,2 Step went on to become the #2 song in the country and it went triple platinum. The Atlanta native finally released the Goodies album on September 28th.
Goodies eventually went triple platinum and she was a major star during this time period. In March of 2005, Ciara dropped her third single and it featured Atlanta’s own Ludacris. The track name was Oh and it was another major hit for Ciara. Oh eventually went platinum and became the #2 song in the country. Ciara wasn’t done releasing singles from the Goodies album. Almost a year after dropping the album, Ciara released the fourth and final single. And I was the name and unfortunately it didn’t reach the success as the prior singles. Ludacris, T.I., Petey Pablo, Missy Elliott, R. Kelly and Jazze Pha were featured on Goodies. Overall, this was a dope album and one that gets much play.
