Do you remember the first time hearing Method Man and Redman on a track together? My first time was on the Show Soundtrack and their standout track, How High. How High was one of my favorite tracks from then and they turned that into a movie of the same name. They also collaborated on 2Pac’s All Eyez On Me album on the track, Got My Mind Made Up. Method Man and Redman were always around each other, so they collaborated on an album. Blackout was the name and it dropped 20 years ago today. Blackout went on to sell well over a million copies and was the #1 rap album in the country. Da Rockwilder was their second single and they performed the track on numerous shows. When you put two lyrical, funny dudes together, you’re going to get a classic album, right?
Blackout was the follow-up to albums that both Method Man and Redman dropped. Redman appeared on Method Man’s Tical 2000: Judgement Day project. Method Man appeared on Doc’s Da Name 2000 by Redman. Ghostface Killah, LL Cool J, Ja Rule, Streetlife, Blue Raspberry, Mally G and Young Zee appeared on the album. Erick Sermon, RZA, Redman and Mathematics all lent production for the album. Blackout is a dope album and one that gets much play all the time. Talib Kweli also dropped his Beautiful Struggle album 15 years ago today. Below is the track listing and it’s followed by the stream links.
