If you tuned in Sunday night to watch Patrick Mahomes put on a show, you were disappointed. The Chiefs QB injured his ankle in the first half and was hobbled the entire game. While Mahomes was injured for most of the game, that doesn’t take away from the performance by the Colts. The defense put pressure on Mahomes all night and limited the big plays. The Colts edge Chiefs 19-13 on the road in Arrowhead during the Sunday night game.
Coming into this game, my pick this week had the Chiefs remaining undefeated after this game. If you’re a fan of big boy offense, you loved what the Colts did against the Chiefs. The Colts used their aggressive offensive line to pound the ball all game. Indianapolis rushed a total of 45 times for 180 yards. Marlon Mack lead the charge with 132 yards on 29 carries. The offensive line controlled the defensive line of the Chiefs all night. Justin Houston, one of the best Chiefs players ever returned as a Colt and lead the charge on defense. With the win, the Colts are 3-2 which ties them with Houston after they blew out the Falcons. Indianapolis will have a bye next week and returns home to face the Texans on October 20th. With the bye week, maybe the Colts can get some of their defensive starters healthy.
While the Chiefs defense didn’t give up a lot of points, the Colts still controlled them. On the other side, if Kansas City gives up 19 points, they’re most likely winning that game. Prior to this game, Kansas City scored 25+ points in 25 consecutive games. Mahomes still finished the game with 321 yards and a touchdown. On defense, they didn’t give up a lot of points but was still dominated. The Colts offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage most of the game. The Chiefs will have concerns about the ankle of Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs will be home next week in a key battle against the Houston Texans.
