Daddy’s Hangout 2019 Week 8 College Football Predictions

Welcome to Week 8 of the college football season. My record last week was 6-1, which improved my overall mark to 22-6. My winning percentage jumped from 76.2 to 78.6%. Honestly, I’m hoping my college football luck rubs onto my NFL picks. Going into this week’s picks my winning percentage is 50%. My only defeat from college was Penn State holding off Iowa on the road. After watching that game, maybe we all need to start taking the Nittany Lions seriously. In the big game, LSU defeated the Florida Gators. Joe Burrow is looked at as the Heisman front runner after another impressive performance. In the Red River Shootout, Jalen Hurts lead the Sooners to the win over Texas. Hurts didn’t have a lights out game passing wise, but he still rushed for over a 100 yards. Alabama continues to roll over competition as they blew out the Aggies.

The big shocker in college football was Georgia stumbling at home against South Carolina. Notre Dame barely edged the Trojans while Wisconsin and Clemson dominated. This week there’s only three worthwhile games on the schedule. Let’s get started!

We’re going to kick things off in Big Ten country for this top-20 match-up. The 16th ranked Michigan Wolverines will head to College Station to battle the 7th ranked Penn State Nittany Lions. Ever since Michigan suffered that embarrassing loss to Wisconsin it’s kind of woke them up. Michigan has looked like the team we all envisioned, but Penn State is a different monster. Can and will they upset the 7th ranked Nittany Lions this weekend? I’ve come to the realization that Penn State is one of the more underrated teams in the country. They have a stout defense that’s built to stop anyone. As far as the offense, they’re as explosive as they’ve ever been. Penn State is looking to keep up with Ohio State and Wisconsin for Big Ten supremacy. With that said, I’m going with Penn State to remain undefeated after this game.

Penn State Win 26-17

We have another match-up featuring teams ranked in the top-20. The 17th ranked Arizona State Sun Devils will travel to Utah to face the 13th ranked Utes. This is a crucial Pac-12 South game seeing both of these teams are in the same division. Arizona State and Utah are tied with USC and Arizona for first place with all having one loss. Herm Edwards have the Sun Devils looking great and playing with confidence. Utah have looked great also and this will be a close game. In the end, I’m thinking the Utes will barely edge the Sun Devils.

Utah Win 30-27

We stay out west and the Pac-12 for this top-25 match-up. The 12th ranked Oregon Ducks will travel to Washington to face the 25th ranked Huskies. Oregon already have a two game lead over the Huskies in the Pac-12 North. The Ducks still have Arizona, Arizona State, USC and Washington State on their schedule. Oregon will have to go on the road to pad their lead. Can they head to Washington and beat the Huskies? Washington have suffered a couple of tough losses in the conference. Last week, they looked like the team many thought they were against Arizona. Can the Huskies make things interesting in the Pac-12 North with a win? I’m picking the Ducks because I trust Herbert more than Eason.

Oregon Win 31-30
