Welcome to Week 14 of the NFL season. Its official, we’re entering the final quarter of this amazing season. The NFC will be crazy in these final four games. We have three teams sitting atop of the conference with 10-2 records. New Orleans, Seattle and San Francisco are all fighting for that home field advantage. At 9-3, Green Bay is lurking as they have somewhat of an easy remaining schedule. What’s crazy is that the 49ers went from top dogs of the NFC to leaders of the Wild Card with that 10-2 record. They travel to New Orleans this weekend to battle the Saints in what could be a playoff preview. After a thrilling Monday night win over Minnesota, Seattle travels to Los Angeles to meet the Rams next Sunday night. Green Bay will head home to battle the feisty Washington Redskins.
In the AFC, Baltimore took over the top spot by beating San Francisco. The Ravens needed help and got it as the Patriots fell to the Houston Texans. With the Patriots loss and Bills win, Buffalo is now a game behind New England for the division lead. The AFC South will come down to the end with the Texans leading the Titans by a game. These two teams battle each other twice in the final three weeks. My record last week was 6-2, which raised my overall mark to 61-36. The winning percentage jumped from 61.8 to 62.9%.
We have a lot of huge games this weekend. I’ll be predicting another seven games with the hopes of raising the winning percentage more. The Baltimore Ravens travel to Buffalo to battle the Bills in what should be a good matchup. We have another big game in the AFC as the Chiefs travel to Foxboro to battle New England. In the NFC, the San Francisco 49ers travel to New Orleans to face the Saints with a lot on the line. Let’s get started!
We start things off like always with the Thursday night game. The Dallas Cowboys will travel to Soldier Field to battle the Chicago Bears. Despite some bad losses and a lot of turmoil in the organization, Dallas remains atop of the NFC East. The Cowboys come into this game with a 6-6 record and lead the Eagles by one game. With the Bears having a great defense, Dak will have to play a mistake free game to win. Ezekiel Elliott will need to be utilized a lot also. On the other side, Chicago is also 6-6 and fighting for their playoff lives. They’re 3 games behind the Packers in the division and two behind Minnesota as far as the Wild Card is concerned. Mitchell Trubisky must get the ball out of his hands with the Cowboys team. With this being a must win for both I’m going with the Bears.
Chicago Win 27-17
We head to the AFC in what could potentially be a future playoff matchup. The Baltimore Ravens travel to Buffalo to battle the Bills. The Ravens have won eight consecutive games and now are top of the AFC. A week after facing the tough Niners defense, they must travel to Buffalo. How will the Ravens defense fare against Josh Allen and the Bills offense? Can Lamar Jackson further plant his MVP status against Buffalo? Buffalo is probably the team that’s surprised the league the most. On Thanksgiving, they went into Dallas and dominated the Cowboys. Buffalo’s defense will have their toughest test when they face Lamar Jackson. With the Patriots facing the Chiefs, Buffalo could leave this weekend tied atop the AFC East. In the end, Baltimore is a team on a mission and I’m picking them.
Baltimore Win 23-20
We have another major matchup during Week 14 between two Super Bowl contenders. The San Francisco 49ers will stay on the road and head to New Orleans to face the Saints. After being the final team to be defeated, San Francisco has dropped two of their last three games. With Seattle’s win over Minnesota on Monday, the 49ers have dropped to the leaders of the Wild Card. San Francisco continue to boast one of the best defenses in the league. How will they fare against Drew Brees and the Saints offense? Can the running game be effective against the Saints defense? New Orleans controls their own destiny for home field advantage in the playoffs. This is a tough one, but it’s hard to go against New Orleans at home.
New Orleans Win 27-24
We head back to the AFC for this battle of a pair of playoff hopefuls. The Tennessee Titans travel out west to Oakland to face the Raiders. Tennessee comes into this game tied with Pittsburgh for the final Wild Card spot. The Titans also come into this one a game behind Houston for the division lead. Tennessee and Houston will meet twice in the last three weeks and that’ll decide the division. Until then, Tennessee will need to continue winning to stay keep up with the Steelers and Texans. Oakland is coming off an all-around horrible game last week. The Chiefs blew out their division rivals 40-9. Oakland is a game behind the final playoff spot and a win over Tennessee would be huge. Oakland has improved this season, but I’m going with Tennessee to continue to roll.
Tennessee Win 24-20
We have the rematch of last year’s AFC Championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots. The championship game took place in Arrowhead, but this one will be in Gillette Stadium. Kansas City has built them a nice two game cushion over Oakland in the AFC West. The Chiefs played their best game last week and the defense is starting to get better. How will they fare against Tom Brady and Patriots? New England didn’t look well against the Houston Texans last Sunday night. New England’s offense couldn’t get moving and the defense looked vulnerable. With the Bills chasing them, can they knock off the Chiefs and hold that division lead? I’m picking New England to rebound and win against the Chiefs.
New England Win 31-21
We have the Sunday night game between two NFC powers from the west. The Seattle Seahawks will travel to Los Angeles to face the Rams. With their over Minnesota on Monday night, Seattle jumped from Wild Card leader to the second spot. The Seahawks hold the tiebreaker since they beat the 49ers a few weeks back. Seattle is tied with New Orleans as of now for the home field advantage. The offense of the Seahawks is clicking at the right time. Can they go into Los Angeles and beat the Rams? Los Angeles erased that horrific loss to Baltimore two weeks ago with a win over Arizona. Jared Goff looked like the QB that lead his team to the Super Bowl a year ago. The Rams is currently a game behind Minnesota for the final Wild Card spot.
If anything, Los Angeles will need to win out for a shot at the playoffs. I’m picking the Rams to upset the Seahawks Sunday night.
Los Angeles Win 31-30
We now have the Monday night game between two teams in the worse division. The New York Giants travel to Philadelphia to battle the disappointing Eagles. The Giants look to be drafting in the top-5 again this year. New York is currently riding an 8-game losing streak. The passing game could be the key to beating the Eagles. The problem is, will the offensive line give Daniel Jones enough protection? Philadelphia is coming off one of the worse losses imaginable. They were favorites to beat Miami but walked away with the loss. Despite their three game losing streak, Philadelphia is a game behind Dallas for the division lead. The Eagles control their own destiny as they can win out and take the division. I’m picking the Eagles to beat New York in a significant effort on both sides of the ball.
Philadelphia Win 34-17
