4 Teams Leonard Fournette Should Consider After Being Released

The Jacksonville Jaguars surprised the sports world by releasing Leonard Fournette. The move ends a tumultuous three-year run in which Fournette rushed for 2,631 yards and 17 touchdowns. The Jaguars didn’t pick up his fifth-year option during the offseason and actively pursued a trade without receiving any serious offers. In a show of respect, Leonard Fournette thanked the Jaguars and the fans in a tweet. Leonard Fournette was looked at as a once in a generation running back coming out of LSU. Fournette had the speed and power, which made many covet him entering the draft. With the Jaguars waiving him, Fournette shouldn’t have a problem finding a new home. Below are 4 teams Leonard Fournette should consider after being released.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh has always been known for having a bruiser back in their organization. Fournette is still young and probably hungry to show the league he can still be great. James Connor is a great back, but he hasn’t been healthy the last couple of seasons. The Steelers defense should be one of the best in the league. With the return of Big Ben, the Steelers have a very small window to bring him another championship. Pittsburgh should go all in this season and adding Leonard Fournette will help the offense a lot.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles could use a back that wears down opposing defensive lines. Miles Sanders is their everyday back, but he’s dealing with an injury as of now. When the Eagles won the Super Bowl a few seasons ago, they had that smash and dash backfield. The Eagles went after Carlos Hyde to no avail and were rumored to be interested in DeVonta Freeman. With Fournette, you’re getting someone that’s younger and hungry to prove he’s a great back. With one of the better offensive lines in the league, this would be a great acquisition for Philadelphia.

Los Angeles Rams

With the loss of Todd Gurley, the Rams will need to find someone to replace him. While Fournette isn’t the back Gurley was before injuries, he’s a nice replacement. The Rams have some promising young guys; they need another veteran to add to the mix. Los Angeles has Malcolm Brown, but the addition of Leonard Fournette would be great for the Rams. Having someone like Fournette could take some pressure off of Jared Goff.

Chicago Bears

You’re probably thinking, the Bears already have David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen. David Montgomery just went down with a groin injury that could sideline him for 2-4 weeks. The starting quarterback for the Bears could be Nick Foles, who just came from Jacksonville. The Bears quarterbacks coach is John DeFilippo who was the offensive coordinator in Jacksonville last season. Leonard Fournette would be a great insurance policy for the Bears if Montgomery were to miss more games.
