6 Reasons Why You Should Consider Moving to Chicago

6 Reasons Why You Should Consider Moving to Chicago

Being someone from a small town, I’ve always had those big city aspirations. There’s nothing wrong with living in a town where basically everyone knows everybody. About 8 years ago, we moved to a much bigger city which is right next to Atlanta. With my daughter graduating high school in less than three years, we’re thinking about moving again. We’re open to pretty much anywhere in America and the big city is what we’re eyeing. We have thought about just moving to Atlanta and other cities like Orlando, Detroit and Los Angeles have been talked about. After giving much thought, we thought about the Windy City and that’s Chicago. If you’re looking at a city with so much history, you can’t get any better than Chicago. Here are 6 reasons why you should consider moving to Chicago.

Great Job Market

One of the first things that’ll draw my attention anywhere is the job market. Down here in Georgia, the market is rather good, but Chicago is a growing city. My wife is in the medical field, while I’m still blogging and also a manufacturing manager. There’s a lot of great opportunities for the both of us in Chicago. On the blogging side of things, there’s a lot to talk about and explore in the city of Chicago.

Sports

If you know me, then you know that sports are something that’s very near and dear to my heart. Chicago is infamous for some of the greatest sports teams in history. When you think about sports teams there are a couple that comes to mind. The ’85 Bears is viewed as one of, if not the best football team ever assembled. Soldier Field is one of the places on my bucket list I’d love to go see a game live. The 90s Bulls led by the greatest of all-time Michael Jordan is as an iconic team as there ever was. They also have the Chicago Cubs and White Sox. Wrigley Field is one of most iconic stadiums in all of sports. Seeing I’ve always wanted to go to an NHL game, what better team to go see than the Blackhawks.

Beautiful Scenery & Culture

If you love art, history, or culture then Chicago is definitely the place for you. Chicago is full of museums, monuments, and a nice aquarium. The Art Institute of Chicago, Shedd Aquarium, Chicago Cultural Center, Chicago History Museum, Alder Planetarium, and the Field Museum of Natural History. Those places are places that will get visited multiples times if I were to move to Chicago.

Summer Vibes

Chicago is really cold during the winter months and it’s something I’m prepared for. During the summertime, you can’t ask for a better place to be than Chicago. Lake Michigan is so beautiful that it alone can attract people wanting to stay forever. The Lakeshore boasts 26 miles of beautiful public beaches from North Avenue Beach to Montrose Beach. There are 18.5 miles of trails and green space for hiking, biking, volleyball playgrounds, baseball diamonds, tennis courts and soccer fields.

Great Places to Live

Chicago has some great neighborhoods if you’re in the market for a house. After thorough searches online, they have so many amazing apartments throughout the city. You can find some beautiful apartments for rent in Chicago online. If you go through Zumper, you can get exactly what you’re looking for. Shopping

My wife loves to shop and moving to Chicago will open her eyes to so many places. The Magnificent Mile which is packed with high-end retail, dining, and entertainment options. Another great shopping option is State Street which includes the historic Macy’s on State Street. My wife loves Macy’s and she would definitely enjoy visiting the historic store in Chicago.
