5 Signs That You Might Have Male Pattern Baldness

Male pattern baldness is a common form of hair loss that accounts for 95% of hair loss around the world. Many people think that baldness is something that only affects those who are slightly older but this is not the case at all. This type of baldness can affect anyone and it is a genetic condition so is more likely to affect those who have family members with male pattern baldness.

If you think that you have this condition, you might want to address it sooner rather than later. Read on to hear about some of the signs of this condition.

Can It Be Treated?

Before we look a bit closer at the signs of male pattern baldness, we should note that there is a cure for hair loss. Hair loss tablets are the best treatment for hair loss as they address the problem and resolve it quickly. If you do decide to go ahead with hair loss treatment, make sure to consult your GP and read up on the treatment itself to make sure you have answered questions like “does finasteride work?” well enough to be able to make an informed decision for yourself.

Large Clumps of Hair

One of the most common signs of MPB is large clumps of hair falling out. For example, if you wake up with lots of hair on your pillow or you notice a lot of hair coming out when you brush it, you could have this condition. This is something that you should assess over a 1-month period, not over the course of a year.

Receding Hairline

Over time, you might start to notice that your hairline is receding. This isn’t something that will happen right away and might take you a while to notice. It might be that a friend or family member notices your hairline before you do as it isn’t always obvious when you look in a mirror. If you do find that your hairline has receded more recently, you should talk to your GP.

Thinning Hair

Some people have naturally thin hair on their head but this can get even thinner when you add MPB to the mix. If you notice that your hair has begun to get thinner on the top of your scalp, you might have this issue. Often, thinning hair is a sign of permanent hair loss and so this is something that you’ll want to address if you can.

Problems with Styling

The final sign of male pattern baldness isn’t something that you might expect but it can be a real indicator that you are losing more hair than you think. If you are struggling to get your hair to sit in your usual style, you could find that you have lost a lot of hair. Unless you are using new products that make your hair softer, get in touch with an expert if you can’t style it the same way.

If you think that you are experiencing any of these signs of MPB, you should seek treatment and get some advice from your GP.
