Welcome to another Thursday, this means we’re closer to the weekend. The big news in hip hop this week was the rumored exit from TDE by Kendrick Lamar. It turned out to be fake news, which could mean we might have some new music from him. My playlist this week consisted of a Snoop Dogg and Jadakiss mixtape, plus the Like Water for Chocolate. There was also a pair of personal mixtapes, Lil Wayne’s I Am Not a Human Being II and Boosie’s Life after Death Row. Once again, there’s a lot to choose from as far as a featured Throwback Thursday track. The featured track comes from Common’s Like Water for Chocolate classic album. The Light is the joint and it’s a straight classic track. The Light was the second single from Like Water for Chocolate and it was nominated from a Grammy.
Common has always been one of the more underrated rappers of all-time. Common is lyrical, plus his music is soothing to the soul. Like Water from Chocolate is one of his best albums in my opinion. The album is up there with Be, Finding Forever, One Day It’ll All Make Sense and Resurrection. Check out the track listing below and it’s followed by the stream links.
