Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. Once again, there was another great week of music being played. We kicked things off with the classic Ridin’ Dirty album from UGK and then Morray’s Street Sermon joint. Afterwards, we had some R&B playing with the Candy Rain joint from Soul for Real, plus the Drake & Future joint. Liquid Swords by GZA, Wicked Wayz from Mr. Mike and the ONIFC project by Wiz Khalifa. As you can see, there were some good music played and I had plenty to choose from. For my featured Throwback Thursday track, we went to the compilation of 1988 Hip Hop. Before going any further, rest in peace to the late, great Biz Markie. One of the standout tracks from the 1988 Hip Hop compilation is We Want Eazy. Of course, this track is from the late, great Eazy-E.
We Want Eazy appeared on the Eazy-Duz-It joint that went double platinum. The album dropped in November of 1988, and it was the debut, solo project from Eazy E. As we all know, Eazy E passed away in March of 1995 to AIDS. It’s hard to believe it has been over 26 years that the Godfather of Gangsta Rap passed away. Eazy E is never mentioned as one of the greatest rappers, but he had a lot of influence on the culture. He was responsible for helping the careers of Dr. Dre and Ice Cube. The Eazy-Duz-It album was one of the first tapes my dad ever bought me as a kid. Overall, this was a nice album and one that gets played from time and time again.
